About Service Operations
A division of Global IT, Service Operations delivers information technology solutions, services, and infrastructure to EA’s game studios worldwide.
Position Summary:
The Microsoft SQL Database Engineer will provide the technical domain and leadership required to effectively deliver high-quality, timely solutions and services that meet EA’s business needs with a focus on the Service Operations line of business. The primary focus is to research, evaluate, plan, design, allocate, implement, support and optimize all aspects of EA’s MS SQL databases in a high volume transactional environment with critical uptime requirements.
Job Overview:
Works under direct supervision to:
Provide environmental readiness to meet project timeline commitments.
Support standards ensuring effective maintenance and stability of the SQL Server infrastructure.
Review performance metrics and proactively address areas of concern.
Assist and educate developers on effective coding techniques to facilitate software performance.
Assist in developing and implementing support strategy for business continuity.
Minimize impact of change through functional testing and performance analysis of ad hoc queries and stored procedures.
Assist with the enhancement of SQL Server infrastructure documentation.
Design and engineering database solutions to support business requirements including H/A and DR solutions.
Act as SME and Level 3 support for DBA colleagues and IT Operations Level 1 and Level 2, mentor the activity done on ticket resolution in order to enhance quality of work, documentation, defined standards and monitoring.
Adopt and champion data management standards established by Senior Manager
Job Qualifications:
2-3 years’ experience in database development and administration in a Microsoft SQL Server environment (SQL Server 2008R2 +)
2-3 years’ experience developing T-SQL stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
2-3 years’ experience with multi-server administration
Experience in the physical and logical design of database architecture
Experience with database optimization and performance tuning
Experience with data replication, database recovery, DR failover and H/A solutions
Self-motivated with a passion and desire to learn NoSQL technologies
Educational Requirements:
BA or BS in Computer Science, a related Information Technology discipline, or equivalent experience.
