Overview and Responsibilities
The Director reports to the Vice President of Marketing & Partner Insights. The ideal candidate is a team leader possessing forward-thinking analytical skills with a background analyzing on-air, digital and convergent research quantitatively and qualitatively. Must be a strong presenter, both internally and externally with clients and agencies.
Responsibilities Include:
• Provide daily support to Viacom television Ad Sales, Pricing & Inventory and Ad Sales Marketing.
• managing a Research Project Manager and working alongside a Director in the generation of tracks and reports, sales presentations and 1-sheets, programming analyses, promo effectiveness and sales estimates tracking and liability for Kids & Family.
• participating in the creation of sales presentations and materials, fielding requests and questions from sales and Pricing & Inventory, collaborating in story-finding, overseeing competitive analyses and industry summaries, and the management, performance evaluation and training the analysts on the Kids & Family Research staff.
• Develop innovative and insightful initiatives that competitively position and distinguish Viacom on-air and digital brands in the marketplace.
• Serve as an expert on the Kids & Family on-air and digital brands, their target audiences, consumer insights, behavior and content consumption across all screens to clients: Sales, Research, co-workers and agencies.
• Work with Research Management to establish best standards and practices for multiplatform research analysis and reporting.
• Work closely with Sales Management and Integrated Marketing on presentations and strategies.
• Stay informed of industry news, emerging resources, measures and be the go-to source/resource for Ad Sales.
• Establish strong relationships with Ad Sales, channel Research and Research co-workers.
• Participate in meetings, offering insights and share best practices as well as individual day-to-day happenings.
• Work independently and proactively on problem solving and creating projects to move business forward beyond day-to-day requests.
• Strive to make meaningful contributions both oral and written.
• Team with Ad Sales executives in presenting research related studies and findings.
• Responsive to Sales and manage their requests through strong communications and efficiency; build key relationships with Sales
• Liaison with Sales and regional Sales management to understand their needs and priorities and proactively deliver solutions and strategies
• Be knowledgeable in all Viacom brands and demographics as you represent all of them
Basic Qualifications
• 8+ years in related media research
• Proficiency in Nielsen based applications (Multi Trak, N-Power/Audience Watch, Nielsen/MRI fusion, Market Breaks, Lake 5) and digital/VOD/social systems and measurement (comScore, Omniture, @Plan, Radian6, Rentrak, Social Guide, Trendrr)
• Expertise using consumer based studies: MRI, TRU, Forrester, JD Power, Iconoculture, etc.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills: PowerPoint, Excel, Word
• Extensive background in creating custom presentations using a variety of resources.
• A comfortable and experienced public speaker and presenter.
• Experience supervising, motivating, mentoring and training a research staff.
• Bachelor's degree is required.
Additional Qualifications
• Strong research and analytical skills, with an ability to identify trends, draw valid conclusions, make insightful recommendations and create dynamic presentations.
• Excellent communication skills a must, both written and verbal.
• Experience managing and training direct reports preferred.
• Strong ability converting research data into compelling sales stories and coherent programming analyses.
• Must be able to handle multiple projects and tight deadlines.
• Current Industry knowledge.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Kids Marketplace experience a plus.
