As a member of the Video Acquisition and Compression Technology team for Comcast, you will be instrumental in leading and implementing the strategic direction of how video is delivered to the entire Comcast footprint. Who does Manager of VACT work with?
A Manager on the Video Acquisition and Compression Technology team will not only work daily with the Video and Network engineers and operational teams that are deploying video solutions to all of Comcast, but also with a variety of on-site vendors and internal clients to include Comcast Technology Solutions and NBCUniversal..
What are some interesting problems you'll be working on?
In this role, you will have exposure to any and all issues that can arise within the Video Acquisition and Compression Technology team. We are the team that is instrumental in solving complex video and networking issues that come in from anywhere, whether escalated from a customer, or from other teams within Comcast that we partner with.

You'll be working with the best and brightest minds in Comcast to roll out and support the video delivery infrastructure that will power the next generation of television. Success in this role is characterized by a higher speed to market, meeting or surpassing customer expectations, with fewer defects and outages.
Responsibilities:
• Provides day to day oversight and guidance to meet operational objectives tied directly to content acquisition and distribution.
• Defines, proposes and executes all operational plans to ensure that all components, equipment, procedures and performance meet customer demand for extremely reliable functionality and service.
• Maintains RF, occasional resources, fiber IO connectivity databases and transport facilities.
Maintains Satellite Services Handbook with current information.
• Coordinates with sales and engineering teams on satellite and fiber transport availability.
Complies with and administers all established policies and procedures.
• Defines, proposes and executes all operational plans to ensure that all components, equipment, procedures and performance meet customer demand for extremely reliable functionality and service.
• Administers preventive maintenance programs and inspecting uplink equipment ensuring that all equipment is repaired and maintained continuously to prevent outages.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Applies industry standards in daily operations and ensures that they are consistently met and that technical operations comply with system, region and OSHA safety programs.
• Develops, trains, mentors, and motivates staff members in accordance with best practices and procedures developed by management.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Skills & Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 5 years relevant experience in transmission/distribution engineering and methodology.
• Strong communication skills verbal and written.
• Strong project management experience.
• Strong proficiency in Visio and Excel.
• CCNA preferred
• Multicast experience requested, not required.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Willing to take ownership of problems and see them through to resolution.
• Comfortable working in a fast paced environment.
