DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Production and Content Operations is responsible for various aspects of media production (including digital audio and video), from acquisition, through post-production, to publishing and distribution for CBS Radio’s digital operation. Manage a team that develops and creates content across all CBS Radio departments, including consumer facing live and on demand audio and video, as well as all in-house digital audio and video production and post production needs at our studios, performance spaces and live event facilities across the US. This includes leadership of the digital team’s role, in coordination with CBS Radio’s IT and Engineering teams, in the planning, management and upkeep of all production and post production equipment, along with the ongoing operations and optimizing the personnel strategy for maximum efficiency and content quality in all digital audio and video efforts.
The Director will manage a team of Digital Audio and Video Producers, Editors and Motion Graphic Designers, as well as physical production and post-production teams in local and national studios, as well as live event and field production as needed. This person will also maintain a freelance staffing roster in each of the cities in which CBS Radio operates for digital audio and video production staff and coordinate the ongoing hiring and management of these resources. The ideal candidate should have a great eye and ear, and should be creative in acquiring, packaging and distributing content, while maintaining high quality across multiple business units within CBS Radio. Primary distribution channel for all content is online, mobile and social, but could possibly include broadcast and cable as well. A deep knowledge of audio and video publishing, player, and distribution systems, including web, mobile, social, broadcast, and cable is critical. This position reports into the EVP Digital, CBS Radio.
Responsibilities:
• Work with CBS Radio programming and digital staffs to strategize, provide direction, lead creation of content as it relates to sports, lifestyle, news and music
• Manage team of Audio and Video Editors, Studio and Field Producers, Production Teams, and Motion Graphics Designers
• Strategize and execute on new productions (both small and large) with content team leaders
• Strategically manage the ongoing design, development and maintenance of various digital audio and video production and post-production infrastructure, facilities and equipment, coordinating with IT and Engineering teams, to maximize quality, efficiency, speed and distribution
• Lead and assist with field production shoots as they relate to music performances, news, sports, and/or lifestyle content production
• Oversee creation and development of animation and broadcast quality motion graphics for all digital video productions including animated logos, show opens/closes, lower thirds, transitions, etc.
• Collaborate, brainstorm, multi-task and manage projects with content directors/producers and other editors
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in media production, graphic design or related field
• 5+ years’ experience in broadcast/digital media production
• 3+ years management experience in related field
• Solid experience with the production process including audio and visual; sound and light design as well as shot composition
• Strong post-production background with design skills and solid experience in motion graphics, audio/video log and capture/transfer, editing, compositing, and format/compression specific output
• Familiar with non-linear editing suites such as FCP, Avid Media Composer, Sony Vegas and/or Adobe Premiere
• Strong knowledge of After Effects and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc)
• Proficient in audio editing tools such as Adobe Audition, Sound Forge, Protools, etc
• Knowledge of Cinema 4D and/or Lightwave a plus
• Knowledge of Newtek Tricaster operations a plus
