Responsibilities
The right candidate will have the opportunity to perform production duties within automated control rooms, news content editing as well as fulfill the responsibilities within the media operations center. Production Specialists have a multi facet skill set exhibiting all the competencies within the Operations team. He/she ensures the technical expectations of NBC Boston, NECN and Telemundo Boston are clearly being met and that our high quality standards are followed on a consistent basis.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and ingest feeds among the NBC Group
Collaboration with editorial and control room staffs regarding live programming
Have competent understanding/skills related to shot composition, lighting and aesthetics
Tune in microwave/satellite shots and have solid understanding of bonded cellular programs
Record feeds using remote control software of video servers
Operate robotic camera controls and audio mixing console
Set-up and maintain studio equipment
Mic guests for live and recorded programs
Clearly communicate with all personnel internally and externally
Exhibit excellent customer skills and be attentive to all departments needs
Educate users on standard operating procedures and enforce editing protocol
Troubleshoot system problems and escalate issues to the Engineering team
Provide editing services to news and other departments as needed
Punctual, regular and consistent attendance
Promote teamwork within a positive work environment
Update documentation relating to all Operations procedures and workflows
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum three years’ experience working in a fast paced television newsroom environment editing daily news content using non-linear editing systems, audio operation and robotic camera experience, familiar with media operations center processes and/or possess technical directing skills
Must have the consistent ability to organize and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines and in pressure situations. Multi-tasking and adapting quickly to change are necessary traits
Requires strong technical aptitude and experience with television control room and studio production technology including knowledge/skills with, audio mixers, robotic camera controls, production automation systems, newsroom editorial software, non-linear editing systems, microwave/satellite systems, bonded cellular systems, router systems and automated on-air play out systems. Familiar with video switchers, character generators, DVE’s and video servers
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to clearly communicate with all levels within the organization and with external vendors. Professional courtesy and respect are vital at all times. Consistent ability to use positive language.
Requires adaptability, enthusiasm, initiative, ability to handle criticism, even temperament and a positive approach to problem solving. Ideal candidates must work effectively within a team environment. Be a dependable self-starter who can operate consistently with a high degree of accuracy. Candidates must have a strong attention to detail with a desire to excel. Able to work independently without direct supervision.

Desired Characteristics
College degree with a concentration in television production or equivalent experience preferred.
Hands on experience with Dalet newsroom system or comparable newsroom systems
Hands on experience with Ross Overdrive or comparable automated production control systems
Knowledge of control room production within a 24 hour news channel
Experience with microwave/satellite/cellular bonded technology
Experience with Vinten camera robotics or comparable robotic camera system
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, as well as other digital production software such as Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, Vantage, Latakoo and file share systems
Bi-lingual English/Spanish proficiency a plus
Must exhibit and lead with a positive example
Must demonstrate ability to remain calm under pressure and think critically
