Job Summary:
The Executive Director, Next Generation IT Systems role is a senior leadership role on the Next Generation team that is responsible for the program delivery or program operations of the Next Generation platform. Since this program is at the beginning stages, the primary initial focus will be on defining the culture, defining an organization, and recruiting top talent.
-Responsible for being strategic in working with many parallel Comcast initiatives and organizations to understand and negotiate trade-offs, prioritizations, and impacts on delivery or operations. In conjunction to setting and guiding the strategy, this role will be hands-on and detailed in the implementation of the individual solutions.
-Responsible for managing complex projects and groups of projects through entire project lifecycle (inception, design, development, integration and test, trial, and deployment). Proactively manages all up and down stream technical and non-technical dependencies to ensure alignment and successful delivery. Responsible for managing tactical and strategic communications and mitigations for all risks.
Ownership for all workstream management activity, including but not limited to: schedules, dependencies, environment compatibility, requirements, functionality and communication. Works directly with product, business, and technology leaders to focus on solving the right problems, in the right way, at the right time. Understands and effectively works within bi-modal development cycles; remains flexible and calm in the face of uncertainty and has proven experience with Agile, DevOps, and Waterfall methodologies.
Core Responsibilities:
-Lead a team of Next Generation delivery or operations individuals
-Maintain and refine the Next Gen product or operations roadmap(s) and ensure alignment across key partners, domain solution architects, Comcast business units, and vendors.
-Primary lead for working with other Comcast business units and divisions to gather alignment, understand and implement process change, and deliver on the business case
-Be an advocate for the Next Generation IT program
-Communicate and be an owner for all key plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes.
-Manage risks and resolve issues that affect the Next Generation Program
-Prepares status in the form of formal executive briefings, project update meetings, and written, electronic, and graphic reports
-Facilitates and leads project, steering, and product related meetings
-Enable team to execute frequent iterative releases that provide business value
-Ability to understand technical design, tradeoffs; debate merits of a solution with leadership
-Addresses problems through risk management and contingency planning and presents solutions and/or options to Executive management.
-Continually work towards making improvements in the process
-Ability to work in a team with other high performing and competitive individuals yet constantly working towards the end goal of Next Generation implementation
-Be willing and comfortable to speak out and not follow group think
-Manage small groups of project managers across different workstreams and business organizations.
Required Skills/Experience:
-Understands and deals well with Bi-Modal scenarios where some teams are following rapid deployment cycles and others are on waterfall cycles
-Exceptional communication skills required as this role will interface with multiple teams with differing priorities and viewpoints.
-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is desired
-5+ years of previous release, product, and/or project management (Solid understanding of project management principles preferred)
-Experienced in software development is preferred
-Ability to fully grasp and accept responsibility for projects and see them through to completion
-Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must
-Highly collaborative with a strong work ethic
-Embraces challenges, displays strong creative flexibility
-Ability to establish rapport, credibility, and influence in a highly cross-functional, matrixed organization.
-Proven track record of taking end-to-end ownership and driving results; demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects-work prioritization, planning, task delegation and coordination across teams.
-Ability to successfully influence multiple stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
-Experience with building consensus and agreement within a matrix organization
