KCPQ is looking for a Media Coordinator to be a part of our Engineering and Broadcast Operations.
This opportunity allows the qualified applicant to expand their career in the field of broadcast television as a member of the Engineering Department in support of the on-air operations of KCPQ.
MAJOR PURPOSE: Responsible for the coordination of media for the operations of KCPQ to the standards of the management of KCPQ in compliance with FCC regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Understand and reconcile the program log following KCPQ and FCC guidelines
• Operate our media facilities efficiently and responsibly as needed
• Maintain current knowledge of the operation of all technical equipment within the Master Control Area
• Monitor/update automation schedule as required to follow normal programming and log changes
• Monitor transmitter operating log and official program log to FCC, FAA and KCPQ requirements
• Prepare/time/verify commercial and programming material for air
• Assist in monitoring EAS tests as directed by log and forward as dictated by emergency situations
• Main contact for issues and coordination in order to ensure media product to air
• Additional duties as necessary or assigned
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Must be able to work well under pressure
• Must be able to work well with others in a constantly and sometimes immediately changing situation
• Must have the ability to make decisions and take prompt action
• Must be able to work alone and unsupervised when necessary
• Must be able to work any assigned 8 or 8 ½ hour operation shift during the 24 hour, 7 day “on air” schedule
• Intermediate computer skills to include file transfers, media formats, and databases
• Must be able to use IT-Based equipment in a broadcast based facility
• Must have attention to detail with great accuracy
• Use and knowledge of specialized and standard broadcast equipment
• General knowledge of FCC rules and regulations
Working Relationships:
• Must be able to work with engineers within the department along with all other station personnel and clients
• Must be able to accept changes made to the operation log and adjust programming as dictated by Traffic
• Must be able to correct and document log discrepancies as deemed necessary by network operations center
• Must be able to assist with technical equipment for recording or airing of programming as needed
• Must be able to coordinate recording of material as well as assist with set up of technical equipment as required for production of “live” newscast or pre-recorded material for the News Department
• Must be able to work in cooperation with KCPQ staff, other broadcast operations centers, and clients
Physical Demands:
• Required to stand and sit for long periods of time
• Must be able to bend at the neck and waist
• Must be able to reach above shoulder level; lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
• Must use hands to do simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation

Work Environment:
• Work performed primarily in Master Control Area and in an office environment
• May be exposed to the following conditions: heat/cold, confined spaces, electrical equipment
Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 year’s experience with operation of commercial television on-air equipment
• Working knowledge of Brutus Automation/Transcoding preferred
