Job Summary:
Comcast Interactive Media (CIM) is seeking a Web Developer to join our Engineering team. This group is responsible for ensuring the timely development, testing, and release of Xfinity interactive products such as XfinityTV and Xfinity Home Security & Automation with a high degree of quality that exceeds customer expectations.
In this role you will collaborate with other developers, designers, testers, tech-operators and business managers to develop features for CIM web and mobile applications. This includes building prototypes, translating Photoshop and wireframe documents to web pages and stylesheets, API development, automating functional and unit tests as well as writing development documentation. While the primary responsibilities will include building new Ruby on Rails and Java web apps from scratch as well as developing features for existing web apps, you will also have opportunities to contribute to all aspects of the products. You must be able to pick up new languages and technologies quickly, be a strong team player, and rapidly adapt to changing business and customer demands. The ideal candidate will have experience building Ruby/Rails applications.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 3+ years experience building accessible, cross-platform web sites and web applications
• Knowledge in several of: HTML5, XML, CSS 3, Javascript, Jquery, AJAX, Adobe Photoshop, web standards, browser compatibility/workarounds, accessibility laws and development techniques, HTTP and RESTful web services, Ruby/Rails, Java
• Experience in caching especially in HTTP compliant caches.
• Fundamental understanding of the HTTP protocol
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Experience with Agile/Scrum
• Knowledge of source control systems (Subversion, Git)
• Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Deployment tools (Jenkins, AntHillPro)
• Experience with automated web application testing tools (Jasmine, Teaspoon, Cucumber)
• Experience building large-scale web applications
• Familiarity with cloud computing (S3, SQS, Hadoop...)
• UNIX background (Solaris/Linux)
• DevOps experience
• Generally requires 5-8 years related experience
