HR Operations background
Pearson is entering an exciting time in respect of the delivery of HR services to our employees. We are building a global HR Operations function, a key element of which is our move towards a shared services environment where we will deliver high quality HR services globally. Within our HR Operations teams we are looking for high performing HR professionals who will act as the first point of contact for our employees and who will drive consistency, accuracy and an outstanding level of service at all times. These teams will be the driving force behind Pearson moving into our new HR service delivery model. For successful candidates this role provides a unique opportunity to join Pearson at the very start of this journey and help us build and shape how we deliver services to our employees and add value to the business.
Within HR Ops, this role will be accountable for maintaining our adherence to Pearson global HR policy framework and will drive process & policy assurance across the function, meeting both internal and external audit & compliance standards. The role will report to the Global Service Delivery & Continuous Improvement Manager
Key Deliverables
• Ownership and maintenance of the global HR policy framework – simplifying and harmonising as far as possible whilst accommodating local requirements
• Presentation of policy information to employees in a user friendly, easy to access and understand way
• Drive creation of new policies where requirements are identified, working with relevant SMEs & HR Leaders
• Attend the Pearson Policy board and represent HR
• Delivery against all HR compliance requirements globally
• Ownership of appropriate internal audit schedule for HR (working with internal audit to define this) and partner with HR Leads for delivery against this schedule
• Conduct HR Ops led Audit of HR process & policy compliance and assurance – focus on key processes and communicate to HR Ops Leads and HR stakeholders any required recommendations / corrective actions / process improvements
• Extraction of relevant HR information from HCM systems and transform it into audit fact reports and testing results where required
• Express facts and recommendation in audit reports and presentations to communicate to exec management
• Develop a culture across HR that ensures all compliance and audit requirements are met
• Lead the coordination and preparation of submissions to regulatory agencies
• Maintain an audit and compliance risk log and drive actions to mitigate and eliminate these risks
• Ensure HR Ops is fully compliant with any legal and regulatory requirements
• SOX compliance point of contact for HR function
• Data Privacy office point of contact for HR function
Key stakeholder relationships
• Development of strong working relationships with wider HR community to advise on process & policy assurance and compliance matters based on local regulations and act as an escalation or internal counsel as needed
• Ensure that the end to end HR service Pearson delivers meets all legal and regulatory compliance standards
• Ensure that all policy owners review and update their policies on a regular basis
• Partner with HRADAR team to drive the integrity of all People Data
• Coach and advise local service centre teams on process and policy assurance / compliance matters and assist in identifying harmonisation opportunities
Qualifications
• Education – Bachelor Degree
• 5+ years of work experience in HR positions, ideally relating to policy, audit, compliance & legal environments
• Expert experience in HR policy definition across the employee lifecycle
• Strong understanding of internal audit practices and standards
• Experience in managing and conducting investigations
• Strong understanding of overall HR compliance landscape and best practices (i.e. ACA, etc.)
• Experience in working with sensitive information, and maintaining confidentiality
• Expert analytical skills to evaluate reports and processes when checking for regulatory compliance
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Outstanding interpersonal skills
• An excellent collaborative manager, able to take on aboard wide perspectives and influence positively and act as a critical friend
• Proven excellent people manager able to lead and motivate a team
• Expert Change and Stakeholder Management capability
