Job Description:
Dow Jones is looking to hire software developers to enhance and maintain the Professional Information Business line's Metadata Platform. The Metadata Platform drives the accuracy of the navigation and search results of our product line by not only identifying entities but disambiguating common names and generating relevance rankings leveraging modern entity extraction and classification systems. The PIB archive consists of over 1 billion articles in 28 languages and adds about 2 million documents per day. The platform supporting this area must be operational 24x7x365 and must be highly performant. As a developer on this team, you will be part of an Agile Scrum team and help broaden and update our technology stack. The Metadata Platform takes advantage of cloud computing and linguistic processing and you will have the opportunity to work with these exciting technologies
Primary responsibilities/accountabilities.
• Develop code in various languages to support a variety of custom annotation algorithms
• Software Engineering using the latest Continuous Integration and Deployment techniques
• Manage cloud based deployments of these technologies
• Work with DevOps to enhance Dow Jones processes
Skills/Experience required
• 5 years software development
• Experience with Java / C++ / Python / Ruby programming languages
• Experience with Linux OS (at least 3 years)
• Understanding/Experience in Scrum team
• Source code control experience - preferably Git / GitHub
• Application build experience - Maven / Ant / etc.
• Jenkins experience
• JAXB experience a plus
• XML Schema
