Network Operations Specialist I
Crackle is seeking a Network Operations Specialist Ito join the Network Operations team in Culver City, CA. The Network Operations Specialist will be responsible for the operational implementation of all scheduled content releases for the Crackle digital network via the Crackle CMS and other associated systems. This includes but is not limited to; schedule deployment, metadata input, playlist management, channel management and merchandising curation across all of Crackle’s network of distributed devices and platforms
The appropriate candidate must effectively demonstrate technical proficiency in working with CMS and media management systems, video specifications, image specifications and metadata formats as it relates to online media distribution. The candidate must also possess the ability to self-manage tools and resources in order to process work, troubleshoot issues and report status updates on-time and in alignment with Programming and departmental distribution objectives.
This position is part of a small, integral group and is expected to work both independently and within an interdisciplinary team. Attention to detail, adherence to deadlines and accuracy in the execution of work is paramount to achieving success in this role. The candidate accepts that priorities can change rapidly, and is able to shift operational efforts without stress or resistance. Off-hour scheduling will be required as a part of this role.
CRITICAL SKILLS
• Extensive experience in the use of Content Management Systems (CMS)
• Experience with video consumer products and user interfaces
• Experience with hands-on QA functional testing including following test plans
• Experience with the use of Adobe Photoshop
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to offer multiple solutions to technical and operational problems and challenges
• Knowledge and experience in web development protocols and processes
• Knowledge of digital media formats, standards and codecs
• Knowledge of web-based file transfer tools and delivery systems: Aspera, SFTP and FTP
• Knowledge of standard metadata and XML formats such as xls, xml, rss, and mrss
• Knowledge of video DRM protocols
• Knowledge of FCC &W3C accessibility requirements
• Ability to understand integrated functional requirements of streaming services on Crackle’s network of distributed devices and platforms
• Ability to effectively collaborate in a team setting
• Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize work in a deadline driven environment
RESPONSIBILITES
• Channel and playlist management within in the Crackle CMS
• Application of media flight dates within the Crackle CMS
• Slideshow management within the Crackle CMS
• Metadata entry and management within the Crackle CMS
• Work within the Crackle scheduling system
• Manage channel art creation and receipt in alignment with network release schedules
• Perform QA of Channel, Playlist, Slideshow and the presence of media across Crackle’s network of distributed devices and platforms
• Provide regular status reports on progress/or roadblocks related to on-net media releases
• Track progress of work within shared departmental systems
• Continually monitor and QA the status of live campaigns on all Crackle distributed devices and platforms to ensure a high quality end-user experience
• Log issues into a centralized system and report, assign and track open issues through to resolution
• Liaise with the Crackle Programming team regarding content schedules
• Liaise with Crackle Product team regarding feature enhancement to the Crackle CMS
• Support Crackle Product and Engineering teams during feature enhancement releases
• Perform content updates within other CMS systems as they pertain to Crackle’s overall business
• Occasionally post press releases to the Crackle site
REQUIREMENTS:
• 4+ years of experience in working with online video, TV broadcast or interactive consumer entertainment products
• BA degree
• Exceptional passion for detail
• Strong organizational, media management, and media cataloguing skills
• Strong project management abilities
• Strong demonstrated experience working on both Mac and PC platforms
• Strong
• Strong knowledge of administrative software applications: MS Office Applications, (i.e., MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
• Must be a creative thinker with a passion for video and digital entertainment while also demonstrating strong problem solving skills
• Must be comfortable discussing technical requirements with Product and Engineering teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
