Responsibilities
The Design Manager will sit within the Creative Services Team working alongside the Design Director on the local creative strategy for the NBCU Global brands as well as the development and implementation of the ensuing creative solutions and assets for the UK and Emerging Markets teams.
The Design Manager’s role is to ensure the effective running of the Design Department and its output, working in tandem with the Design Director to facilitate and nurture the best creative work not just on Branding projects but for all other service lines across the business.

CORE REQUIREMENTS:
-To work in partnership with Global in addition to local reporting
-To be a global brand guardian and ensure brand compliance/consistency at all times
-To use creative to drive performance in territory and meet local business objectives
-To work with all wider teams to deliver integrated work
-To be aware of Ofcom regulations and adhere to them at all times
-To achieve all requested outcomes on time and on budget
-To work with the Design Director and Creative team on the strategic development of campaigns, franchises and promotions for On Air, Off Air and Digital
-To translate this strategy into implementable and achievable design solutions and to produce design work from brief to delivery
-To manage all workflow through the design department, ensuring the appropriate resources are assigned to each project, to brief in all design jobs, and to track projects from brief to delivery
-To be responsible for managing the Creative Designers within the department and provide guidance and support to foster their professional development
-To oversee that a WIP of all current and future projects is maintained
-To work closely with the Design Director and Head of Production on forward planning and utilisation for the department
-To present rationale for increased resource and departmental growth
-To ensure all projects are managed effectively and to budget, working closely with budget holders on and off air
-To understand and utilise Farmers Wife as a planning, time reporting and utilisation tool
-To share work in progress and present finished work to internal and external clients incorporating and acting on feedback to be fed back to team
-To work closely with the Design Director to provide an environment that allows the Design team to fulfil their creative objectives and ambitions
-To support the Design Director with training, PDRs and 1-2-1s
-To seek freelance talent and agency support to bring specialist skills to projects, where needed
-To track / oversee the tracking of all budgets through the department including the requesting of and tracking of PO numbers for all design related expenditure
-To book / oversee the booking of additional facilities for the department including Mac hires and ensure necessary software is in place to achieve design solutions
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
-Proven experience in broadcast and print design with a track record of TV broadcast work
-Knowledge of graphics and animation programmes such as Adobe Illustrator,
Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe After Effects and Maxon Cinema 4D.
-Excellent Apple Mac skills and an understanding of troubleshooting.
-Strong creative and analytical skills.
-Strong written and oral communication skills.
-Strong presentation skills and an ability to clearly express reasons behind decisions.
-Strong managerial experience working alongside Designers and Creative Heads.
-Strong knowledge of typography, design fundamentals and colour.
-Strong knowledge of moving image and current animation techniques.
-Strong knowledge of Channel packaging and multi-language reversioning.
-A solid and creative portfolio, showcasing innovative design solutions.
-Excellent Knowledge of current trends, creative executions and technology / software.
-Thorough knowledge of the production process and deliverables for (Video, Print and Digital).
-Experienced in high volume of work and tight turnaround deadlines.
-Ability to work with and manage the design team in a collaborative, dynamic environment.
-A commitment to aiming for the best creative work and implementing positive change and best practise.
-Ability to respond with a positive and flexible approach to competing priorities.
-A “bigger picture” perspective that can influence the direction of the department.
REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in media field
-Willingness to be flexible with hours.
-Must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
