We are looking for a Front-end Engineer who has worked on modern, responsive, complex, mixed-media sites. You will implement and maintain production-quality code and be responsible for ensuring that the front end code you develop is robust, well-architected, and easy to maintain. You should be proficient with client side debugging tools and be able to solve problems on a complex and ever-changing site.
GameSpot, Giant Bomb, and Comic Vine are dynamic and responsive sites with multi-device support and advanced CSS methods. They heavily utilize JavaScript frameworks to organize code and speed up development. A good understanding of the techniques used on these sites are of paramount importance.
Primary Responsibilities:
As a senior engineer, be a mentor to other engineers, enforcing high code quality and teaching skills.
Build pages and features that are efficient, performant, and compliant with modern browsers on desktop and mobile
Write code that is in-line with the group’s coding standards. Work with the group to update those standards as necessary
Constantly look for ways to make the code more maintainable and flexible
Work with Product to ensure that your projects meet their business goals
QUALIFICATIONS:
Portfolio with live examples
5+ years development experience
HTML, CSS preprocessor languages, and strong JavaScript coding skills with an emphasis in responsive, cross-browser development
Experience with CSS pre-compilers such as SASS or LESS
Experience with some JavaScript frameworks (Angular, Backbone, React, etc.)
Strong understanding of modern front-end performance techniques
Familiarity with Git or other source code version control system
Must successfully pass a background check
Preferred:
Understanding of server-side languages like PHP, Python, Ruby, etc.
Familiarity with frameworks that separate presentation and logic, particularly PHP frameworks, and the MVC paradigm
You’ve been to E3 or PAX
A love of DOTA hats, Overwatch loot boxes, or rocket powered soccer cars.
