Introduction:
The demand for content-driven marketing programmes on publisher platforms is expanding at a rapid pace. The Economist’s content marketing, research and sponsorship business has been producing high quality, custom thought leadership content for over 25 years and is an integral part of The Economist Group’s growth strategy.
We are recruiting an Associate Director of Creative Strategy who will lead the development of integrated marketing programmes that deliver on client marketing objectives by leveraging the depth and quality of Economist Group product offerings. The role reports to the Managing Director, Content Solutions, Asia and the SVP Global Creative Strategy and partners closely with the EIU Thought Leadership team, the client-branded content team and the sales organisation to develop proposals for potential clients. The role also ensures the execution of sold programmes stays on strategy, post-sale.
Accountabilities:
• Identify key insights for client programmes to illustrate the value of The Economist Group as their partner.
• Define programme strategy based on these insights and the client brief
• Understand the full suite of Economist Group solutions (including, but not limited to, client-branded content, EIU thought leadership, Economist Events and media) that can be leveraged to support a client’s marketing goals and measures for success. Particular strength in media and distribution planning a plus.
• Identify appropriate client solutions, culling from the portfolio of Economist Group capabilities in the context of client goals, target audience and success metrics.
• Define programmes that incorporate paid, owned and earned channels and consider opportunities for content discovery, distribution and amplification.
• Collaborate with Sales, EIU thought leadership, client-branded content teams, and research to develop and deliver client proposals. Attend client meetings and pitches as needed.
• Collaborate with EIU Thought Leadership team and Sales to identify integrated programme opportunities and craft corresponding programme recommendations.
• Provide strategic leadership and insights on client-branded and integrated marketing programmes.
• On as-needed basis (decided with manager) act as primary engagement contact on integrated content projects.
• Promote awareness of the Economist Group’s content solution offering.
Experience, skills and professional attributes:
• 5-8 years of experience, preferably pan-Asia
• Innovative strategist and marketer able to bring fresh ideas, as well as a disciplined, strategic approach to client engagements; a track record of contributing to the success of consequential brands
• Track record working in larger, complex, high-impact marketing organisations
• Effective team member and relationship builder with ability to work autonomously and across time zones as needed
• A leader with proven effectiveness in employing digital marketing and content strategy
• Metrics-oriented; creates effective marketing programmes with strong quantitative results against objectives
• Proactively identifies opportunities and potential challenges
• Dynamic presentation and communication skills (written and oral)
• Bachelors degree required, advanced degree preferred.
• Fluency in Mandarin or Japanese a distinct advantage.
