Responsibilities
The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing the business needs of the IT clients to identify business issues, data challenges and propose IT solutions. In relation to a proposed IT solution, a Business Analyst engages the clients to document and edit business requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations; develops and leads project testing efforts; works in conjunction with the Sr. Lead Analyst and Project Manager to ensure issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner; delivers informative, well-organized presentations; and understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully and effectively.
•Work closely with business partners across all levels of the organization to understand their business, system challenges, and opportunities in the context of the requirements and to recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals in a timely manner.
•Gather and define business requirements to help resolve issues or plan for new changes and technologies. Find efficiencies and improvements to the business process. Develop Business Case, Project Charter RFI, RFP, selection recommendation or other project initiation documents
•Analyze and map business and technical processes (current state/future state). Produce high quality documentation and business process models, as a result of the discovery and evaluation process.
•Build relationships between IT and the business partners by building trust and creating a credible partnership.
•Monitor the original requirements throughout quality assurance testing and implementation to ensure that they are effectively delivered.
•Drive the desired business value-added results by aligning all technology needs and the overall priorities. Adhere to established IT policies and procedures including the Project Lifecycle Methodology.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is required; majors in MIS, IT, Business or related field preferred.
•Minimum 2 years of work experience in IT Business Analysis; Business Process Mapping; Requirements Gathering; Project Management and Execution; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Characteristics
•Good understanding of APIs and system integration jargon.
•Some knowledge of SQL Server 2012 a plus.
•Experience with leading information gathering and brainstorming sessions for business requirements definition. Preference in experience in lean process improvement design.
•Knowledge of Business Process Mapping, Requirements Gathering, Project LCM.
•Good presentation, analytical, organizational, facilitation, communication, and negotiation skills.
•Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams
•Ability to think creatively and develop solutions beyond the boundaries of existing practices and client mindsets.
•Effectively handle sensitive and confidential matters.
