Responsibilities
UPHE Content Group is an independent mini-studio within the infrastructure of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and distribution footprint of NBCUniversal. With offices around the world and central headquarters in London, the UPHE Content Group discovers, acquires and produces a diverse range of quality content across a multitude of genres (film, stand-up comedy, TV drama/sitcoms, music, sports, documentary, family entertainment, events & special interest) for global distribution. It’s multiplatform sales & distribution footprint includes theatrical, physical, digital (SVOD & Transactional), TV (Free & Pay) as well as consumer products. The business uniquely focuses on managing talents, partnerships, brands and titles across all rights and across their full lifecycle. It is a business rooted in Artists and repertoire (A&R) culture, driven by relationships, innovation and ambitious growth plans.
This role reports to the VP Content Strategy, Marketing & Distribution and drives commercial success by creating materials, assets, managing budgets and liaising with multiple 3rd parties to create world class all rights marketing & PR plans, globally. The role collaborates widely with our Acquisitions teams, Licensors, OpCos (local & central teams) and other departments as required. Key to this role is the ability to think creatively about releases and to determine innovative strategy on an individual project basis for the US & Canada Acquisitions & Production team.
Job Duties
Function as part of the UPHE Content Group’s US & Canada Content Strategy & Marketing team to help drive and support the execution of the release strategy for new release acquisition product across both film and non-scripted projects
Work closely with theatrical, physical, digital, TV & consumer products stakeholders to determine commercial release plans globally
Collaborate and manage relationships with film makers, producers, licensors and talent
Deliver creative elements to support marketing & PR strategy including trailers, key art and above the line marketing materials to be rolled out globally
Develop and communicate assets to support local marketing campaigns, including packaging, above/below the line, digital, any special packaging and management of 3rd party promotional partners
Produce, gain approval, and distribute marketing guidelines for assigned titles and support OpCos (local & central teams) in devising their release strategies. Ensure campaign strategies are integrated and achieve world class marketing objectives across the ‘all rights’ model.
Oversee suitable PR and social initiatives to enhance marketing strategy on a project by project basis.
Provide OpCo (local & central teams) support/ assistance via regular communication, adding value, preparing materials to showcase product at all relevant opportunities, and facilitate the timely sharing of Best Practice
Gain licensor creative approvals for assigned titles, in collaboration with Legal
Manage marketing & PR budgets for allocated titles
Provide oversight of OpCo (local & central teams) plans and performance
Maintain strong working relationships with International Marketing departments and OpCos (local & central teams) as well as other divisions/ stakeholders (e.g. Acquisitions, Operations, NBCU Distribution & Sales, and Legal teams)
Provide summaries to internal stakeholders and licensors including release dates, financial summaries and international territory marketing summaries
Support Marketing conferences, quarterly meetings and MD conferences, providing artwork, trailers and other material as required
Undertake all other tasks as allocated by the VP Content Strategy, Marketing & Distribution
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Proven success in a similar Brand management - marketing & PR role. Ideally with US/ International, theatrical and/or home entertainment experience and with sound knowledge of digital and TV
Experience of developing strong creative marketing & PR materials that are product, consumer and market relevant – key art, trailers, packaging, TV, Print, Online ideally for multi-territory use
An understanding of the US market as well as International cultural and local practices
Ability to think and act strategically
Strong commercial understanding and acumen
Strong communication and presentation skills
Strong project management and organisation skills, with experience of managing budgets
Strong negotiation, influencing and interpersonal skills
Ideally experience managing multiple 3rd parties
Strong Microsoft office skills including Excel and Power Point
Solid experience (5+ years) with entertainment media and brand management (preferably with a business or marketing degree)
