Responsibilities
Role Summary:
Focus Features seeks a highly qualified candidate for the position of Senior Analyst, Film Distribution and Strategy. The ideal candidate will manage and develop strategic planning activities for the company and its feature film releases. Specific projects will include market research, film gross receipts analysis and projections, financial modeling, and recommendations related to film-specific distribution plans, emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, competitive threats, and internal business performance improvement. The position offers unique exposure to a wide variety of businesses within the media and entertainment industry. The position will report jointly to the Vice President, Strategy and Operations, Focus Features and the President, Distribution, Focus Features.
Essential Responsibilities:
Work closely with senior management to formulate the vision and strategy for Focus Features’ theatrical releases
Prepare financial models related to film acquisition, film financing, production and distribution
Formulate presentations for executive management on current Focus Features’ initiatives
Identify and evaluate business development opportunities, including preparation of business plans and potential international growth
Prepare strategic market analyses and special projects to optimize product mix to identify potential areas of future growth
Develop specific theatrical distribution plans for Focus Features’ annual release slate
Analyze maximum efficiency of marketing initiatives including media mix, digital targeting, and in-theater marketing tactics
Determine optimal theatrical release dates for Focus’ films as well as ongoing market-wide release schedule analysis
Calculate lifetime gross receipts and film rental projections for films in release
Conduct gross receipts analysis for competitive studio and specialty films
Drive growth initiatives such as the maximization of distribution channels
Qualifications/Requirements
Focus Features is seeking exceptional candidates with a minimum 3+ years of experience in strategic planning, management consulting, business development or investment banking, ideally in the entertainment industry. The role requires superior strategic, financial and relationship skills. The individual must possess the ability to interface effectively with multiple levels of management, ranging from senior corporate executives to business unit managers and third parties. The ideal candidate will also possess:
Basic Qualifications:
BS/BA degree
Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, including significant financial modeling experience
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to author and deliver presentations
Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
A solid understanding of the film and/or media markets/ business models
Prior investment banking and/or management consulting experience preferred
Knowledge of Rentrak and Box Office Mojo preferred
