The corporate applications team at Blizzard Entertainment is searching for an experienced senior manager of software engineering to join our team in Irvine, California. You will be responsible for leading all of the development for software in support of our multiple lines of business, game teams, and employees.
The ideal candidate is a .NET expert, has successfully delivered robust solutions that are able to maintain service levels under high-load situations, and thrives in an environment where there is ambiguity and a need for timely delivery of solutions. Responsibilities
• Closely collaborate with engineering teams, database engineers, designers, program management, and quality assurance to ensure solutions are delivered efficiently and effectively.
• Contribute to the codebase to stay close to the team and provide advice on technical decisions and work estimates.
• Gain the respect of the team as well as other stakeholders within the business, game teams, and other partners in the organization.
• Provide architectural guidance on software projects to ensure that common frameworks and patterns are utilized appropriately throughout all software projects.
• Effectively communicate ideas, issues, status, and outcomes with the team and other leaders in the organization.
• Regularly send out engineering status updates and reports.
• Introduce best practices on team collaboration, engineering processes, testing, deployment, and support.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and coaching to senior and junior members of the team.
• Set individual work standards and goals, review progress, as well as manage performance and behavior of team members.
• Coordinate recruitment. Manage resumes, phone screening, lead interviews, develop the recruiting process and proactively seek new avenues for engineering recruitment.
• Plan and secure relevant training and professional development for the team.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders within Blizzard.
• Be an advocate for technical documentation and ensure the team adheres to the documentation policy.
• Assist in promoting a positive engineering and team culture.
Requirements
• A minimum of 8 years’ experience working on the .NET platform, including .NET 4.5
• Experience managing multiple scrum teams with 5-6 engineers per team
• Strong knowledge of async and parallel programming with .NET 4+ (TPL)
• Strong knowledge of ASP.NET MVC, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, CSS, and HTML
• Strong knowledge of design patterns
• Experience working in high-performing teams throughout the entire software development lifecycle
• Strong knowledge and recent experience with modern software frameworks, testing frameworks, and best practices
• Experience designing software and creating system architecture diagrams
• Experience debugging and performance tuning applications and services
• Strong knowledge of software development methodologies such as waterfall, agile, lean, XP, etc.
• Strong communication skills
• Passionate about delivering and following through
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant experience
Pluses
• Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Experience with Relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience with mobile development (iOS, Android, etc.)
• Knowledge of microservices and event-driven frameworks
• Knowledge of React, AngularJS, and other modern UI frameworks
• Knowledge of cross platform mobile frameworks
