A Little About Us
Yahoo Labs is growing its strategic research teams to enable the company to build the cool products and enabling platforms that our customers need, now and in the future. Our mission is to deep dive into the data to understanding and apply patterns and data analytics to empower our products. Specifically, the Mail Mining team at Yahoo labs analyzes and model Yahoo mail data, to get new insights and devise novel mail features and applications.
A Lot About You
You will be responsible for research, design and development of end-to-end features and applications related to Yahoo mail. You will be working with the best scientific minds who like to roll up their sleeves, dig into mountains of data and uncover new discoveries to contribute to the business’ success and present at the top scientific conferences. You ill be working with research scientists and engineers, as well as with product teams abroad, product managers and other labs partners to build compelling data-driven mail features and applications. You have deep proficiency in data analysis, systems and software development, as well as OO languages, and are eager to explore new tools and technologies.
Your Day
• Initiate and execute research projects, develop new and innovative algorithms and technologies and pursue patents where appropriate
• Analyze data, identify problems and potential customers, devise solutions and build prototypes
• Stay current on published state-of-the-art algorithms and competing technologies and maintain world-class academic credentials through publications, presentations, external collaborations and service to the research community.
You Must Have
• Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field
• Industry or academic experience.
• Research track record, focused on computer science or large scale computing (specifically, information retrieval, computational linguistics, machine learning, matrix and graph algorithms, unsupervised clustering, data mining, large scale systems).
• Familiarity with OO programming concepts and languages.

• Ability to perform research that is justified and guided by business opportunities
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
