Position Summary:
From 1st January 2017, Discovery Communications will become the official multiplatform and broadcast rights holder for the Olympic Games in Europe. Eurosport will be the new Home of the Olympic Games and this role is critical to ensuring the delivery of the ultimate Games experience for our audiences.
We are looking for an experienced Product Manager who has ideally worked in the OTT, IPTV, or Sport markets and who has experience in building and delivering product release strategies, with deep understanding of full product lifecycle management and market research. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has proven track record of working with digital product development and technology team, designers, and sales teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, global matrix environment. The Senior Product Manager must have previous experience of working within an Agile SCRUM software development methodology.
You will be involved in the definition and delivery of digital Products. The Product Manager will be working with the Director, Olympics Digital Products in defining, managing, and delivering product roadmaps to tight deadlines. The Senior Product Manager will also have experience in assessing technology assets and determining ways they can be leveraged.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure product definition and product life-cycle roadmap support the business drivers (i.e., revenue, audience, cost savings, strategic value).
• To communicate requirements and negotiate priorities with technical teams using in-depth knowledge and experience of technical delivery processes and the ability.
• Work with cross-functional teams through definition, development, release and maintenance.
• Identify, evaluate and work collaboratively with vendors/partners ensuring optimal delivery and service levels are achieved.
• Create concise product documents to justify (ROI) investments and provide insight into making trade-off decisions.
• Clear, concise and thorough articulation of the product requirements that enable an engaging and monetizable customer experience.
• Communicate and drive transparency of project status and commitments for stakeholders.
• Foster effective team work by proactively sharing information and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders including: project management, product development and technology, sales, finance.
• Responsible for managing various digital products from conception, to market delivery and on-going evolution.
• Keep up with market trends to communicate similar and competing products in the industry to key stakeholders.
• Demonstrable understanding and usage of analytics and user behaviour to assess and action product improvement.
Requirements:
• A love of sport and the Olympic Games.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or equivalent experience.
• Product management experience within the OTT or Sport industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of Agile scrum processes such as backlog grooming and sprint planning.
• Effective use of business modeling and requirements management techniques: Process, workflow modeling, use cases, product backlog management, user story definition
• Working knowledge of scrum management tools, e.g. Jira, is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills; detail-oriented with experience using metrics to prove assumptions and concepts.
• A self-starter with ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Ability to articulate technical and product innovations in a business context.
• Experience managing the production and development of a new digital experience.
• Proven ability to think strategically about market needs, business impact, and product design.
• Proven track record of successfully working with cross-functional teams through digital product/features releases.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate product concepts to a variety of audiences providing training documents to both technical and non-technical users.
• Must be solution and team oriented with the ability to build trust and influence others.
• Proven track record of meeting the challenges of tight deadlines and prioritizing workload.
• Demonstrable enthusiasm and energy for delivering successful digital products.
