The Strategic Partnerships and Investments team—where the Director, Digital Distribution will report—is Pearson’s corporate group responsible for coordinating the company’s major partnership activities and ensuring that we approach partners with a single voice.
Director, Global Digital Distribution
Position Overview
The Director, Global Digital Distribution will coordinate Pearson’s policy and key strategic partnerships for distribution of our digital products, across the globe including those with large companies (e.g. Amazon, Ali Baba, Google and Microsoft) and smaller, innovative enterprises in the digital distribution ecosystem. The position will be based in the UK, but will be responsible for Pearson’s policies and strategic relationships with companies around the world and will collaborate with teams across Pearson.
Responsibilities include:
• Coordinate with Pearson colleagues on the the development and adoption of Pearson's Global Digital Distribution policies
• Manage the Pearson Digital Distribution Council (DDC) process. The DDC was established to develop consistent pan-Pearson policies for working with our distribution partners for digital products and services as well as to maintain consistent channel management strategies across product groups and geographies.
• Understand Pearson’s strategic goals and connect them with opportunities to work with Digital Distribution partners
• Maintain relationships with executives at partner companies, stay apprised of strategy, organization changes, decision rights, reporting structures, etc. And identify partnership opportunities.
• Deal leadership, working with multiple functions, including Legal, Finance, Product Development, Pricing and Operations to structure partnership agreements that support Pearson’s business goals.
Conduct market, financial, and operations research to support a Channel/partnership strategy and provide insight to key stakeholders at Pearson.
Essential Skills and experience include:
• Ability to understand Channel partnership models in a complex, changing industry and contribute to strategies in this area.
• Ability to translate business opportunities into channel/partner solutions.
• Ability to explain business issues and communicate goals clearly
• Ability to lead and complete complex negotiations.
• Experience of working in virtual, cross functional teams.
• Understanding of key issues and trends in the education industry
• Relationship management
• Fluency in financial modelling
• Influencing, Persuasion and Tenacity
Qualifications:
A Degree or Equivalent Qualifications and experience
• Applicants should be able to demonstrate relevant management experience as well as a proven record of leadership and success in a Channel Strategy / Partner development role in some form of digital business
• Experience gained at an education or technology company is desirable.
• The position is located either in Central London or Harlow.
