Position Description
The Associate General Manager, RECOIL Group(full-time, salaried, regular) is responsible for the overall management of the brand(s) including activities in advertising sales, marketing effort development, and expense control. Responsibilities include direct management of sales and forecasting functions, management and development of marketing programs, direct management of the sales staff. Work with the other departments: production, circulation, distribution, marketing, and events. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Direct sales efforts with reps (in conjunction with General Managers when applicable) – help to develop and approve proposals, develop guidelines for ad pricing, develop new advertising opportunities for reps, work proactively on client renewals, forecast and manage clients’ schedules.
• Represent brand(s) at industry meetings, trade shows, events, and editorial roundtable meetings. Make sales calls (with and without sales reps) to help initiate new customers and grow existing accounts. Make arrangements for brand representation at key events, including planning and logistics arrangements.
• Develop and manage special advertising sections and special issues. This includes generating concepts, directing content, forecasting, and all other tasks associated with a regular issue.
• Manage all aspects of brand events including concept development, sponsorship sales, contract negotiations, management of staff, internal and external marketing, and implementation of sponsor deliverables (with assistance from the events staff when applicable).
• Manage projects for special promotions.
• Maintain cost and expense controls. Implement procedures and measures provided by management to insure profitability.
• Responsible for marketing and future planning of brand(s) including events, special interest publications, special promotions and multi-faceted efforts (with assistance of the marketing department when applicable).
• Participate as a member of the company management team. Responsible for regular reporting of the publication(s) activities to the finance department, General Manager, and others as needed. Help to develop the yearly forecasts for revenue, costs, special projects, etc., and report regularly on the progress of all activities.
Supervisory Responsibility:
• This position may include supervising one or more employees where applicable.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, Business or Communications preferred.
• The successful candidate will have 2 years devoted to publishing, preferably in special interest magazine publishing.
• Ideally has firsthand media sales experience.

• Work is performed in an office environment that is well lit and ventilated.
