We’re looking for a News & Current Affairs Manager to join Team Snapchat! Working alongside the Live Stories team, you’ll lead a team of producers to create Snapchat’s news stories. Working from our Venice, CA headquarters, you’ll be responsible for producing news and current affairs stories by incorporating Snaps and perspectives from Snapchatters around the world.
What you'll do:
• Work with senior management to set the News team’s strategies and goals
• Ensure your team’s news calendar is scheduled far in advance
• Produce high quality coverage of breaking and developing news stories that incorporate Snaps submitted by Snapchatters
• Drive the ongoing creative evolution of Snapchat’s news stories
• Identify and implement best practices
• Manage, mentor, and coach a team of producers, editors, and coordinators
• Be the point of contact for the News team
• Work closely alongside internal and external partners
• Ensure the necessary resources are put in place to achieve your team’s goals
• Proactively monitor the performance of the News team’s stories, and make necessary optimizations
• Actively develop and pitch ideas for new stories
What we're looking for:
• 5+ years of television or digital news experience at a top media company
• 3+ years of experience managing teams
• A college degree or equivalent experience in a similar role
• An experienced news producer/manager with exceptional news judgment and a deep rolodex of industry connections
• A strong leader with excellent organizational skills
• A strong communicator who works well under pressure
