The Challenge Ahead
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Game Development Application Services, the role offers an intermediate application engineer an opportunity to manage enterprise applications and solutions. This includes defining the architecture, mentoring support engineers, managing the vendor relationship, interfacing with customers, developing roadmaps, and handling the financials.
Key Responsibilities
• Act independently as the service owner for high volume, high transaction applications specifically targeted to support the game development teams across the entire global enterprise
• Own all aspects of a service end-to-end, including design, implementation, support, vendor relations and customer interaction
• Demonstrate a sound understanding of game development team objectives that drive and shape technology requirements and design deliverables
• Utilize expertise in a variety of domains to provide technical leadership in all aspects of the service
• Collaborate cross-functionally with network, database, storage and system engineers in order to develop robust, scalable solutions and solve complex problems
• Be an escalation point for support engineers, providing leadership and guidance
• Drives continuous improvement; may include design, definition of roadmaps, standardization of processes and methodologies
• Work closely with the game teams to ensure their needs are captured and requirements are being met
• Manage the relationship with vendors, including sourcing, evaluation, and escalation
• Exhibit creativity and resourcefulness at problem solving while collaborating and working effectively with best in class designers, engineers of different technical backgrounds, architects and service owners
• Ability to integrate research and best practices into problem avoidance and continuous improvement

Application Engineer II also needs
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent IT qualifications
• 5+ years’ experience with deploying, configuring and supporting Enterprise applications
• 5+ years Deep subject matter expertise with Linux administration and scripting
• Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server
• Ability to conduct complex systems problem analysis and guide teams towards speedy resolution
• Application experience with JIRA, Confluence and Perforce is an asset
• Must be able to effectively communicate and manage work and deliverables from leads
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and customer service skills
• Ability to balance multiple demands and work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work in a multi-sourced model using onsite/offshore resources across multiple time zones
• Ability to travel to various EA locations based in the Americas, Europe, and Asia
