Responsibilities
Job Duties
The role is part of the Technology & Operations team at WRC. The ideal candidate will have a track record in systems administration, support and upgrades of large scale IT / Broadcast centric technologies within Media. Experience in IT based technologies within a 24/7/365 News production environment is desirable. Duties include:
Supervise Station Systems Analysts and IT Tech Support personnel
Forge and foster positive relationships with internal clients and external support teams
Provide support, maintenance and upgrades across all IT based systems
Administer servers, storage, networking, mobile devices, Lap Tops, software and security updates
Provide first class support to newsroom users and associated critical production systems
Plan, design, implement projects as assigned
Develop a close working relationship with Corporate and Division IT & support teams
Bring new ideas and operational practices to enhance the overall effectiveness of the team
Maintain vigilance around Security of systems and work with Corporate Security to ensure compliance
Work closely with key vendors including support, projects and evaluating new technology offerings
Adhere to NBCUniversal policies, procedures, and best practices
Partner with Studio Operations, Engineering and Field Operations groups to troubleshoot and maintain systems and complete technology projects.
Lead and manage multiple projects from conceptual stage through to launch including budget tracking and reporting.
Seek opportunities to reduce spend / increase newsgathering efficiency by implementation of smart technology
Administration and Support of mission critical News production systems including but not limited to: Dalet Digital Asset Management, Isilon Storage, Omneon Servers, Panasonic P2 workflows, video codecs and transcoding, edit platforms including Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premier, Ross Automated Production Control, WSI Traffic and Weather systems, Chyron & Ross Expression graphics
Creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for existing and new workflows
Ensure staff is highly trained, cross trained and able to function independently with accuracy
Project management, risk mitigation and on-time delivery
Administration and support of Mobile devices (IOS/Android/Hot Spots), Web based technologies, VOD encoding and Windows & Apple Desktops
WAN / LAN network and security management including remote sites
Administration of Active Directory Users & Groups, Servers (including VMs)
Administration of Cisco Networking devices
Evaluation and implementation of Broadcast and IT technologies in order to drive station operations, efficiency and competiveness.
Capital recommendations in order to develop and enhance technology infrastructure
Adhere to strict change management procedures and perform systems outage management
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Minimum 5 years working in a mission critical Broadcast / IT environments
Minimum 3 years in a managerial role
Experience in administrating large scale systems to support business needs
Extensive experience in Broadcast Systems, Networking, Servers, Security, Desktop, Lap Top, Monitoring as well as supporting a large user base
Experience with Digital Asset Management
