JOB DESCRIPTION
This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Comcast Cable Communications and Chief Talent Development Officer and is responsible for the overall oversight, strategic planning and focus, and execution of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of all sales L&D programs for all levels and positions for sales employees across all functional areas in residential and ad sales channels (serves as advisor to the Commercial channel).
The residential/retail work is accomplished through a strong matrixed relationship with the Vice Presidents of the Colleges regarding content development, and the Field DVPs managing sales channel delivery. The VP of Sales L&D will manage a team of sales L&D professionals supporting the residential and retails sales channels (excludes Care retention). This individual must work closely as a consultant to senior corporate and field sales leaders, senior management across all functional areas, field sales management teams, and subject matter experts across the enterprise to understand the business goals; determine the sales-related learning and development needs of the sales management and sales employee populations necessary to support those business goals; working with peer L&D leaders, develop and successfully execute plans to address those needs; responsible and accountable for the development of instructionally sound sales programs and materials; tracking and monitoring results; providing oversight of consistency and inter-connectedness of all concepts and materials across all sales programs; and measuring and assessing effectiveness and ROI, and looking for ways to continually improve and enhance initiatives and programs; and providing sales/L&D expertise to the Enterprise as we move to a world class sales and marketing organization.
This individual must insure that all sales learning and development programs and initiatives are in sync with those of all other CU teams (Technical Operations L&D, Customer Service L&D, and Leadership and Professional Development L&D), and that all sales L&D delivery professionals receive the appropriate training as sales trainers. This individual will identify organizational effectiveness issues in sales functional areas and make recommendations to human resources and senior management (e.g., performance management systems, compensation practices, managing change, etc.).
Working in conjunction with corporate sales experts and senior leaders, and CU Leaders from all Divisions, responsibilities include the overall evaluating and monitoring of divisional and regional teams devoted to the delivery of sales training in multiple locations.
Extensive travel is required to field locations. Approximate percentages of time required for major responsibilities:
• (20%) Participate as a member of the CU Management Team by providing input into CU decisions, strategy sessions, and process improvement and help guide the general implementation of all CU initiatives with specific focus on sales channels.
• (40%) Effectively manage assigned team of L&D professionals by conducting periodic touch bases; holding on-going one-on-one status sessions with team members, peers and others, providing professional coaching specific to sales L&D; directing individual activities; creating monthly status updates (including updated Quarterly Objectives and ancillary materials) and a continuously updated Training Plan for the SVP of Comcast University and the SVP of Sales & Marketing and Spotlight (Ad Sales); monitoring effectiveness of efforts through 'After Action Reviews' and formal evaluation process for all key programs and projects; leading sales L&D teams in conducting ROI analysis for key programs and initiatives; and insuring that all goals and objectives are successfully met on time and to the satisfaction of our clients whether analysis, design, development, delivery, or evaluation of sales L&D content.
• (20%) Assess training needs of trainer workforce and design practical strategic business oriented training solutions; oversee the delivery of all sales specialization training programs for sales L&D professionals; monitor programs for effectiveness and consistency, and ensure that organizational objectives are being met.
• (20%) Serve as the senior L&D sales expert and consultant for the Comcast goal of creating a world-class sales and marketing organization.
• Bachelor's Degree in business, instructional design or related degree -- Masters preferred.
• In-depth knowledge in sales as a discipline, and demonstrated success in a sales environment.
• Demonstrated success in creating and launching a sales learning and development program with deep expertise in non-instructor led formats.
• Evidence of a solid working knowledge of sales learning and development best practices, adult learning theory, and teaching techniques.
• Organizational, and training and development experience.
• Experience applying ADDIE model and a change management model.
• Demonstration of effectiveness as a performance consultant, relationship manager, collaborator and/or team player.
• Experience in cable industry preferred but not a requirement.
• Excellent computer skills (MS Office).
• Excellent oral communication, interpersonal, writing skills.
