Sony Pictures Television is one of the world’s leading content producers, responsible for such iconic shows as Shark Tank, The Blacklist, Breaking Bad, Seinfeld, Jeopardy, and The Dr. Oz Show. SPT’s Digital Networks Group offers the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of solving one of the most exciting challenges facing the entertainment industry: how to move traditional content into the future through video streaming technology.
The MBA Summer Associate will focus on SPT’s digital network Crackle, the #1 ad-supported streaming channel in the US. Crackle is home to Jerry Seinfeld’s Emmy-nominated smash hit Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, alongside burgeoning series such as StartUp and The Art of More, as well as numerous hit movies – all free and uncensored. Crackle is currently available on 20 applications and platforms across web, mobile/tablet, smart TVs, and video game consoles in 3 languages and 22 countries, including the USA, Canada, Australia, Latin America, and Brazil.
The Summer Associate will help push Crackle into new frontiers at the intersection of media and technology by driving the analysis and development of new business opportunities. Job responsibilities will include supporting a variety of exciting initiatives for the Business Development & Distribution Team such as: establishing and integrating a cutting-edge Virtual Reality offering; investigating strategic partnerships to power the Crackle app in new consumer settings; developing programs with partners such as Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung, PlayStation, and Microsoft XBox; market sizing, due diligence and go-to-market strategy on unaddressed regions and countries; building more efficient use of licensed and original content across through quantitative data analysis.
The intern would learn about and help with:
• Emerging market evaluation
• New business opportunity evaluation
• Partner and relationship management
• Financial modeling and ongoing business evaluation
• Presentation creation
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
• MBA student at a top-tier business school
• Ability to build dashboards, pivot tables, and quantitative studies to drive business analysis
• Ability to communicate business strategy recommendations through PowerPoint
• Keen interest in digital and emerging technologies (Mobile Products, Social Media, Video and Entertainment Sites, Game Consoles, Connected Living Room)
• Passionate and knowledgeable about television and movies
• Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
• Must be detail oriented, quality driven, straightforward, self-motivated, and proactive.
• Self-starter who is able to work independently. Managing up is a must.
SPE’s Summer 2017 MBA Internship Program is a full time, 40 hour per week commitment from June 12-August 18, 2017. All applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited MBA Program for the duration of the internship of tand must be available for the entire session.
