The Manager, Data Science for AEG will help drive data-driven applications and insight across the AEG businesses. The incumbent will manage a small team and serve as a key driver in defining the Data and Analytics vision and roadmap across the company. The Manager, Data Science will work with the VP of Business Intelligence and Digital Analytics to develop, refine and scale data management and analytics procedures, systems, workflows & best practices. The incumbent will provide clear direction on best practices in developing and implementing Data Science solutions, and make recommendations on how to resolve business issues, as well as, identify opportunities.
Job Responsibilities:
• Manage, guide, grow, coach, and support direct reports, including establishing and measuring performance against clear objectives to achieve success
• Provide broad technical leadership and develop a data science function and culture, as well as maximize advanced data analytic capabilities
• Serve as a passionate Data Science, Business Intelligence and Analytics advocate to help advance solutions that drive traffic, loyalty, conversion, and retention across AEG’s businesses
• Identify and champion new opportunities and approaches to support sustainable business growth and sales of tickets and ancillary products including food and beverage and merchandise
• Foster and evangelize a focused and pragmatic approach to using advanced analytics and new technologies to drive productivity, sales and customer experience that delivers a demonstrable increase in revenue and advocacy.
• Collaborate with leaders across the organization to share and bring best practices and benefits to our venues and events
• Assess appropriate vendor relationships related to analytical tools, technology, and data acquisition; support ‘proof-of-concepts’ that drive business success and sustained analytic growth
• Support the development of appropriate roadmaps, strategies, and which advocate a progressive vision for advanced and predictive analytics solutions, data and processes
• Works with the data warehouse team to design and implement the strategy needed to methodically and iteratively structure, test, validate, and communicate data-driven insights from complex sources and significant volumes of data for AEG’s requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• A minimum education level of a Master of Arts/Sciences Degree in Mathematics, Applied Statistics or Computer Science
• 5 years of related work experience
• Leadership skills, including experience managing, leading, or coaching teams
• Strong communication skills and ability to effectively interface at all levels of the organization
• Strong analytic mindset and ability to develop strong business acumen
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); and ability to learn all required business systems
• Advanced knowledge and experience of analytics tools such as R, SPSS and/or SAS
• Advanced knowledge of Python and other languages used for Data Science
• Experience of noSQL, such as MongoDB, and/or Big Data projects using Hadoop/Hive/HDFS
• A good knowledge of SQL and the ability to write complex queries
• Experience of using predictive analytics and machine learning to improve the commercial performance of a business
• Good knowledge of visualization tools such as Tableau
• Experience of delivering successful BI and visualization projects
• Knowledge of the live entertainment and sports industry
• Experience in a large and highly matrixed organization is preferred
• Global company experience is preferred
