We are looking for senior engineers to join our talented team that share a common interest in distributed backend systems while taking on complex data-related problems. You will build systems that power our organization's data-first vision. You will be working with diverse datasets available; user behaviors, acoustical analysis, contextual data and other signals across our broad range of mobile and connected platforms. Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music.
What you’ll do
• Be a technical leader within the team you work with and within Spotify in general
• Be a leader of the Spotify-wide backend developer and big data community affecting and driving our architecture across the company
• Facilitate collaboration with other engineers, product owners, and researchers to solve interesting and challenging problems for delivering various data driven solutions
• Be a valued member of an autonomous, cross-functional agile team
• Architect, design, develop, deploy and operate services that serve various functions at Spotify and make Spotify a data-first organization
• Hack on what you want during regular hack days and bi-annual hack weeks
Who you are
• You are an experienced technical leader
• You have a deep understanding of OO principles, design patterns and data structures
• You understand system design and architecture best practices
• You are experienced with deploying and operating services on Linux
• You are a creative problem solver who is passionate about digging into complex problems and devising new approaches to reach results
• You have experience and are enthusiastic about working with languages such as Java, Scala, Java and Python
• Experience with modern frameworks for batch and real-time processing, such as Google Dataflow, Scalding, Crunch, Spark is appreciated
• Knowledgeable about data modeling, data access and data storage techniques
