Overview and Responsibilities
The Media and Technology Services (MTS) division of Viacom Inc, has an immediate opening for a Core Compute Services Systems Architect. This position is part of a team of architects and engineers that are responsible for Viacom’s core services including Authentication Services (AD and ADFS), Configuration/Patch Management, Name Resolution, DHCP, Certificate Services, Identity Lifecycle Management, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. This position is responsible for the management of these services deployed worldwide. Candidate will join a team of infrastructure architects to serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in various IT infrastructure services and serve as Level 3 operations support.
This role will also work with stakeholders to identify and design on premise and cloud solutions for applications and their operational requirements. Leveraging a deep understanding of cloud IaaS, network, storage, server, security, and application design, this role will provide technical leadership in each area and bring them together to support their transformation as we modernize technology across MTS and prepare to leverage cloud services.
Responsibilities
• This role is responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, management and strategic planning of all activities relating to core compute services. This includes engineering services for Active Directory, Active Directory Federated Services, SCCM, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Services and VDI
• Candidate must have experience with supporting large, complex and heterogeneous system and network installations
• Candidate must have strong scripting and programming experience
• Responsible for the design, architecture and deployment of technology infrastructure to deliver services with high availability, reliability and agility
• Develops departmental specifications, policies, procedures, architectural diagrams, and standards to guide the management of various compute services
• Responsible for ensuring that policies, procedures and standards are being adhered to
• Manages and coordinates work with other MTS departments to deliver services
• Participates actively in the planning of MTS Infrastructure strategy to meet the business goals of the company
• Acts as a technical project manager where needed by preparing project plans, interacting with other departments and guiding IT resources
• Interacts closely with management across departments
• Confers with and advises peers and IT Infrastructure management on technical problems, priorities, and methods.
• Develops evaluation parameters for technological enhancements.
• Reviews and recommends technology to MTS Infrastructure management and participates in the systems planning process
• Translate business requirements into architectural framework and design
• Work with business partners, application leads, project management group and other stakeholders to develop architecture and design deliverables
• Assess the architecture options and come up with recommendations that are in-line with the strategic vision for the enterprise wide best practices
• Support multiple projects as System Engineer providing technical leadership and oversight to ensure alignment with the original proposed architecture and design
• Proactively identify and suggest architectural improvements to as-is Systems
• Facilitate and lead in the evaluation and selection of commercial-off-the-shelf product evaluation, frameworks and open source platforms
Basic Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• This position requires a strong knowledge across all areas of infrastructure.
• Advanced experience in IT enterprise infrastructure design, including data centers, servers, SAN, and networks
• Hands on experience with cloud technology such as AWS and/or Microsoft Azure
• Application integration, including integration of client-server and /or web solutions, middleware, and mobile technology
• Proven success with IT infrastructure transformation and datacenter migrations.
• Wide background experience with multiple operating system environments, Windows running on various hardware platforms (ex. HP, Cisco UCS, Dell)
• Full understanding of multi-tiered, load-balanced, redundant infrastructure architectures.
• Experience with clustered environments for database and application servers
• Virtualization using VMware and Citrix
• Virtual data center and cloud technologies
• Active Directory/Active Directory Federated Services Design, implementation, management
• Microsoft SCCM 2012
• Microsoft certificate services
• Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager
• PowerShell, VBScript, Perl, VB.Net, C#
• Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop
• Microsoft App-V
• Linux experience a plus
• Highly experienced managing external partners and vender relationships
• Ability to drive major changes via formal and informal influence
• Excellent, demonstrated creative and practical problem-solving and issue resolution skills
• Ability to anticipate and design around potential problems that could impact user experience, scalability, security and reliability
