Overview and Responsibilities
The VP of Brand Design for Nick Jr. must set forth and lead a design and animation team in executing a vision for the Nick Jr. brand aesthetic. This strong creative leader must excel in design and branding as well as content ideation across multiple platforms including off-air, on-air, digital and social. The VP of Brand Design will guide creative strategy, development, and execution for a diverse range of creative, delivering best in class design that resonates with the Nick Jr. audience.
The ideal candidate has an affinity for youth culture, early childhood development and design innovation and trend as it relates to driving a preschool brand. The candidate must have exceptional design taste and the desire to promote preschool content in a thoughtful and strategic way. He/she must be able to handle multiple projects across a multitude of platforms while focusing on high-level conception and execution. The candidate will partner with the SVP of Nick Jr. Brand Creative on all creative content strategies and branding, under the design standard set by the SVP Creative Director of Nickelodeon’s Creative Resource Group.
The VP of Brand Design will work closely with internal Marketing teams while partnering with the Nick Jr. Core Creative Strategy Team lead by the SVP of Nick Jr. Brand Creative. The VP of Brand Design will report directly to the SVP Creative Director of Nickelodeon Creative Resources. Ultimately, in support of the EVP of Creative and Marketing for Nick Jr. and Franchises.
Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee the aesthetics of the Nick Jr. brand and its expression on all of its platforms, including off air, on air, digital and social.
• Establish creative standards that are award winning and support the channel’s brand voice.
• Direct workflow and creative resources and provide strong design leadership for the team.
• Supervise Directors and review design to ensure all goals are met and creative quality is upheld to the highest standard, relative to strategic goals, concepts and execution.
• Partner closely with Nick Jr. SVP of Nick Jr. Brand Creative and core strategy team (VP of Strategy and Editorial, VP Creative Director, VP Animation, and VP Digital Strategy) and Marketing to be sure that all brand initiatives are met.
• Utilize and leverage Audience Research and Data group to strengthen creative work through target audience insights.
• Communicate clearly and in a timely manner with all internal and external team members.
• Effectively manages multiple projects in a fast paced, ever changing environment.
Basic Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience, withheld positions such as Creative Director & above at top Production and Media/Entertainment companies, Design Studios or Branding Agencies
• Creative power-house with extensive track record of delivering world class award winning design
• Proven leader with demonstrated experience to nurture talent within a multidisciplinary team
• Undergraduate degree in Communication/Graphic/Motion Design or related discipline
• Extensive hands-on, on-set directing experience as well as thorough knowledge of post-production process and technologies
