About this position
Twitter is currently seeking a Staff Network Engineer who is highly proficient and has had hands-on experience with high density backbone and datacenter networking topologies, configuration, security, troubleshooting, and traffic management. Twitter's Network Engineering group owns a fast-paced and constantly growing network that seeks to implement cutting-edge technology to power the systems behind one of the world's largest websites and social media platforms.
Responsibilities
• You will be responsible for overall network technology including 12 month roadmap achieved by reaching consensus with peers and customers
• You will deliver configuration standards, design and architecture based on bottom-up consensus and input
• You will scope quarterly objectives and long term pivotal initiatives by understanding business and customer needs
• You will lead and deliver capacity planning, and own yearly capex and opex budget
• You will bring a strong perspective that inspires change and motivates engineers to develop simple solutions to complex problems
• You will test and certify network hardware, software and features to ensure availability and performance
• You will define and drive the adoption of networking standard methodologies by influencing and mentoring other team members
• You will have technical capacity to mentor peers and actively team up with customers outside of Network Engineering to solve broader challenges
Qualifications
• Experienced understanding of internal routing protocols specifically ISIS, OSPF
• JNCIE or equivalent experience with Juniper platform
• Deep knowledge of BGP, MPLS, RSVP configuration and management
• Practical understanding of high connection rate traffic load-balancing
• Understanding of transit relationships and global Internet connectivity
• Working knowledge of large scale networks
• Foundational understanding of CDN, DNS, Anycast and traffic engineering
Desired Skills
• Experience in high capacity networking within the datacenter (>1Tbps)
• 10+ years of direct involvement with network configurations in a high demand/high capacity production environment
• Proficiency in multiple hardware vendor syntax including Juniper, Arista, Force10, Cisco
• Experience with A10 and/or F5 load balancer hardware and software
• Advanced knowledge of network security including IDS, DDoS, Firewalls, and other distributed attack schemes
• Operational experience with netflow and / or Arbor
• Experience with scripting in Python or equivalent and automating network operations activities
