The Development Operations Engineer is responsible for provide technology leadership, policy, procedures, standards and implementation for software and technology. You will be responsible for providing IT platform integrity, engineering design standards, scripting and automation and reporting. You will contribute to architecture definitions, specifications, design, testing, and hands-on solutions to solve business needs.
Job Duties
1. Maintain availability of database systems by reviewing logs, observing system performance, and using administration tools such as SQL server management studio. Look for certain types of entries or events and observe system metrics such as CPU and memory to prevent system outages.
2. Work with software developers to design and implement database changes. Participate in ad hoc meetings to discuss solutions to problems and how to implement solutions. Answer questions from engineers about the best database to use for certain tasks. Discover problems and talk through the issue with the team. Verify changes were made and are implemented correctly. Plan, execute, and review large scale system load tests. Create and optimize j-meter test scripts, organize other systems and people to prepare for load test, review results, use various database scripts and queries to analyze and review performance. Analyze log files and database entries.
4. Research cloud based solutions that will improve system efficiency or effectiveness. Do online research, meet with vendors, discuss with affected employees, R&D ideas or solutions with Engineering leadership, and work with internal stakeholders on solutions.
5. Develop strategies, processes and best practices through research and direction from internal stakeholders on what needs to be done. Ensure processes run reliably and does not affect system uptime and availability.
6. System administration tasks including logging into the system and performing a variety of tasks, such as: changing user permissions, updating system configurations, and tuning applications or processes.
7. Perform ongoing performance tuning, upgrades, and resource optimization
8. Advocate new tools and processes to improve build and source control efficiency
9. Complete root cause and failure analysis to resolve systems problems
10. Implement build/deployment automation for continuous integration or continuous delivery
11. Participate in software deployments
12. Review client support and operational issues, assisting the Application Support team with understanding of client implementations and resolution of problems
13. Be the technical support hero for employees and systems administration for internal systems
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree (4-year) in Computer Science or Information Systems
2. At least 6 years of experience in Linux administration
3. 3-5 years of experience administering Linux operating systems
4. 1-2 years virtualization experience
5. 2+ years of experience working DevOps with an understanding of Agile Methodologies.
6. 2+ years of cloud integration and management experience.
7. Strong Linux system security skills with working knowledge of PCI.
8. Track record of automating complex tasks and troubleshooting highly complex systems
9. Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments, Apache Tomcat, and APIs
10. Knowledge of databases, servers, systems, networking, web technologies and security.
11. Strong written and verbal communication skills with focus on client satisfaction
12. Ability to work on a team

1. SQL Certification is preferred
2. Server certification is preferred
