The primary location for this position will be in Scranton, PA.Travel will be required. We have offices in New York, NY, Princeton, NJ, and internationally.
HarperCollins Publishers is currently seeking a Project Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about learning how our business works, applying project management methodologies, and owning the delivery of complex projects.
This role will have responsibility over projects ranging from local to global in nature, with a focus on back office operations and financial systems. The PM responsibilities include managing external vendors as well as the internal (HCP) cross-functional teams throughout the project life cycle through project closure.
Responsibilities:
• Perform all project management tasks following HarperCollins ePMO methodologies while utilizing approved tools, dashboards and templates.
• Manage internal and external vendors’ project resources as needed to ensure successful planning and execution of deliverables.
• Effectively lead team meetings throughout the project life cycle by managing differences and resolving team and project issues.
• Create and maintain project schedules using MS Project to develop high level and detailed timelines.
• Define and monitor the project critical path and milestones to ensure that all project phases meet timeline.
• Manage and report on project budget.
• Accountable for communication with all project stakeholders, team members and other project managers on project status.
• Manage and obtain approvals for all change requests that impact timeline, cost or the quality of deliverables.
• Collaboration with team members to understand project objectives, business requirements, priorities and deliverables.
• Assist in, or facilitate, the development of documentation: project scope, use cases, business and technical requirements, design or integration documents.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 4 years cross-functional, cross-disciplinary project management experience.
• Experience with both waterfall and agile methodologies.
• Ability to identify and establish priorities, work independently and drive for results.
• Experience with managing a virtual team with team members in multiple geographic regions and time zones.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of industry best practices, third-party providers, and technologies.
• Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills.
• Strong customer relationship skills.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Prior consulting experience with top tier consulting group and experience with media companies preferred.
• Experience in managing projects involving infrastructure, systems integrations and data migration.
• Experience in implementing ERP platforms, JDE financial management global integration experience preferred
• Familiarity with financial, transactional tax, legal entity reporting and accounting terms and accounting business processes preferred
• PMP Certification a plus
• Four-year degree preferred
