Position Summary:
The Transmission Supervisor is responsible for managing a team of shift Transmission Controllers in the operation and the continued growth and development of DNNE, at the Nordic Media Centre broadcasting 17 channels with 48 feeds.
The Transmission Supervisor is the primary contact for all transmission matters and is responsible for the identification and resolution of technical or operational issues.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for leading, motivating and managing a team of shift Transmission Controllers
• Responsible for conducting GPS merit / bonus reviews and goal setting with each DR
• Conducting outage investigations
• Holding disciplinary meetings together with HR support
• Responsible for the successful play-out of all DNNE channels, and that in the event of technical failure the effect on the business is minimised and the failure is remedied as quickly as possible
• Responsible for Escalation and Significant Outage reports
• Testing and sign off of new equipment / systems in Transmission
• Responsible of making sure suite and desks are fully operational and that all issues are escalated to helpdesk or engineering
• Server and archive management
• Oversee restart schedules and Engineering maintenance requests as required
• Liaise with numerous departments and uplink providers
• Daily collating and reporting of all issues and occasional presentations to senior manager in the daily meetings
• Responsible for quality of DDS Reports
• Responsible for finalising of DDS Reports before being sent
• Responsible for creating and maintaining all SOP’s within a managed process as assigned by management
• Attend department meetings as required
• Responsible for exceptions planning and making decisions regarding late changes if necessary.
• Confirms playlists are ready for air and facilitate late changes with the TX Operators
• Responsible for raising technical issues with support engineer and to ensure all details are captured and logged. Perform some technical troubleshooting.
• Keep the operational area in good order to meet our own aspirations
• Ensures that all aspects of Ofcom Codes of Practice relating to the channels are observed
• Perform hands on TX operations when required
• Perform live events operations
• Train new employees
• Such other duties as the management may from time to time reasonably require
Requirements:
• Experience within a multi-channel, fully automated transmission environment
• Comprehensive live transmission events experience
• A thorough operational knowledge of transmission technologies
• Previous experience of leading and building teams
