Foursquare is seeking a highly experienced and seasoned enterprise sales-focused Business Development Director. You are a highly motivated, proactive self-starter who can operate in a fast moving environment. The BD Director will primarily focus on identifying and converting enterprise opportunities in a variety of industries such as insurance, logistics, telecom, energy and the public sector. You already have a deep understanding of how location data and technology can be exploited by decision makers in these environments, will help define Foursquare’s approach and grow our portfolio to this space. You also have deep experience closing SaaS or data licensing deals and have the tenacity to win complex business.
Today, Foursquare’s location intelligence is embedded in an ever expanding range of digital consumer experiences across a wide range of businesses big and small. Our platform powers leading applications in social media, communication, dating, ride hail, transit, navigation and media. It is also exploited by decision makers in finance, retail and CPG who seek an edge over the competition. Our partners use our Places database, location technologies, and “Build” solutions to solve large-scale business problems and engage users. Foursquare’s well-known consumer apps are built on top of the same powerful platform that powers the likes of Samsung, Apple, TenCent, Twitter, Uber and Microsoft (among others).
You will be asked to identify the specific pockets of opportunity in the Enterprise vertical, develop a strong pipeline and negotiate & close data and technology deals. You are a relationship builder who can work with C-suite leaders as well as Product Managers building solutions.
The role is located in San Francisco and reports to the Head of Platform Partnerships.
Responsibilities:
◦ Negotiate and close data and technology licensing deals in the specified market
◦ Identify the sweet spot Enterprise opportunities for Foursquare that exploit our unique mix of technology, accuracy and community content
◦ Build, manage and report on a robust pipeline
◦ Clearly and precisely communicate up and across the organization
◦ Build valuable relationships across the entire range of your clients’ organization from the C-suite to the Product Manager
◦ Develop a strong understanding of Foursquare’s various solutions and data sets in order to deliver the right solution to partners
◦ Understand the full scope of Foursquare’s mission and be able to reflect those ambitions into deal terms
◦ Develop strong relationships across the Foursquare organization, including the business, legal, product, marketing and engineering organizations
Requirements:
◦ Successful track record as a business development leader at a leading geo-data, SaaS, or related company
◦ 7 years of relevant business development and deal-making experience
◦ Deep roster of contacts and relationships to call on
◦ Deep familiarity with Foursquare’s consumer Internet and mobile products
◦ Direct experience with data and API-based partnerships and integrations
◦ Outstanding communication skills in all forms: written, presentations, negotiations
◦ Relentless perseverance through long and potentially complex deal cycles
◦ Experience showing consistent results
◦ MBA or Msc preferred but not required
