Downloaded over 1 billion times and exceeding 20+ million Shazams every day, there has never been a more exciting time to join the global leader in music discovery.
Role scenario
A rare opportunity has arisen for a talented Senior Product Designer with a wealth of experience to join the world-class creative team at Shazam’s London HQ. This is a full-time position reporting into the Global Head of Design.
You
Passion You excite your colleagues and the wider business with your creative spirit and relentless enthusiasm for design. Your bookmark menus overflow with UI goodness from all over the web and you constantly suggest ideas and improvements. Designers want to learn from you, Engineers want to work with you, Product Managers want to partner with you.
Proof Your portfolio is proof of your expertise. It oozes creativity and clarity. You’ve earnt your stripes and you now have the projects to prove it. You might have worked with the world’s biggest brands during your agency tenure or turned a startup from zero to hero. Either way, your case studies stun; perfectly balancing product thinking, UX and IA with glorious pixel-perfected visual design, motion and interaction. Calling all hybrids...
Partnerships Your relationships with engineers and executives are enviable. You’re friendly, articulate, confident and comfortable presenting and discussing your solutions with an array of senior stakeholders. You listen intently because you know it’ll help you build bridges. Giving and soliciting feedback is part of every journey you make. You’re egoless and empathic. Nothing phases you and knowing when to push for change, or accept it, comes as second nature.
PlatformYou could write a masterclass in designing for iOS and Android. You understand the sensibilities of each platform. You know what is practical and what causes problems, forming your design proposals around these constraints and opportunities. Engineers feel like you’ve got their back. You understand their world. The Material Design website is like a treasure trove and you probably dissected the iOS 10 Beta interface the day it launched. Oh, and chances are, you’ve designed a website or two in your time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
PrototypingMovement is your secret weapon. You understand that design isn’t flat and possess the skills necessary to lift your concepts off the screen. We’re not picky about your tool of choice, but chances are if you regularly tinker away in Principle, After Effects, Origami, Flinto, Framer or similar, then you’re in a good place. You can produce high-fidelity prototypes quickly that bring your designs to life for user testing and you’ll help develop a new suite of interaction patterns across Shazam.
Process From start-to-finish you’re the owner. You will be involved in and often expected to lead product development processes: brainstorming, strategizing, sketching, wireframing, prototyping, mocking, designing, defining, refining and tweaking right before launch. You will be expected to bring your full range of product, interaction and visual design skills to the table. Throughout, you’ll collaborate with ease and professionalism, taking guidance and direction well, managing your own schedule and feedback loops. The payoff? Regularly shipping your designs to over 120 million MAUs for one of the most popular apps of all time.
