The Lead Production Manager (LPM) is responsible for the production, engineering, and on-schedule delivery of all projects within a particular program or discipline. The LPM participates in determining product delivery dates and leads Scope Statement discussions between members of the Product Planning, Development & Marketing (PDM), Finance, and Sales teams to define product specifications. The LPM also creates program milestone schedules, helps to identify appropriate suppliers, and helps to develop and implement the production process for each product. The LPM facilitates communication among all departments and with vendors regarding budget, schedule, and development concerns.
Understands project scope: Participates in the planning of new products and achievement of on-time, on-budget execution, including project scope, status of deliverables, finances, resource management and communication. Supports the production team to define the scope of the project and focus on the customer.
Focuses on results: Creates, manages and is accountable for detailed project schedules and is responsible for tracking schedules and interdependencies. Ensures that status, risks and issues are managed and communicated and that reporting requirements are adhered to. Leads the production team to meet project goals.
Provides project status: Manages delivery of project updates and communication from production team to Stakeholders, providing detailed schedule tracking information and ensures preparation and documentation of own and team’s project meetings are executed and that decisions and actions are tracked, distributed and understood as required at appropriate organization levels.
Supports project documentation: Collaborates with internal and external teams to ensure that requirements are met for data management, vendor management (statement of work through billings), quality management, and release management.
Communicates effectively: Provides clear, direct, accurate and professional written and verbal communication at all times. Presents issues and risks with proposed solutions or mitigations in a timely manner. Escalates issues as needed for conflict resolution and for effective Change Management. Understands the complexity of interdepartmental relationships and is able to adapt to adversity, resolve conflicts and manage change effectively.
Represents production team: Acts as a role model for the Production Management team and mentors Senior Production Managers in all aspects of the role. Advocates and participates in process improvement and positive change initiatives. Works with the Senior Management to enhance engagement and to impart and understand Business goals and drive revenue. Acts in conjunction with Director and Group Managers to achieve own and team member’s personal and professional growth.
Required:
Education Level and or relevant experience
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business or relevant discipline
•10+ years of educational publishing experience
Preferred:
•Master’s degree
•Experience working on learning solutions products for the K–12 market, print and digital
Knowledge and skills:
(general and technical)
•Excellent project management skills
•High level of organization; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize
•Proven ability to drive on-time, on-budget, and high-quality development efforts
•Extensive experience developing interactive software for learning
•Extensive experience in application and web-based development
•Demonstrated ability to lead an agile development methodology supporting multiple platform offerings when appropriate
•Extensive experience in digital and print production, including specific knowledge of the educational market requirements
•Strong negotiation, communication, leadership, and supervisory skills
•Excellent problem-solving ability
•Ability to remain objective

Physical Requirements:
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
• The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
