Description
Job Title: Senior Network Operations Engineer
Location: San Rafael, California or Novi, Michigan
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Work on CREFTS (Corporate Real Estate, Facilities, Travel, Safety and Security) projects within a team of IT professionals dedicated to build new infrastructure, move and/or expand existing infrastructure to support the needs of the office.
Works directly with peers, customers, vendors, and strategic Partners to scope, design, present and get approval, order relevant infrastructure elements, keep track of delivery within timelines of projects, coordinate the build of the infrastructure, either locally or via remote support, go-live, troubleshoot issues related to the build and close the project with agreement and customer satisfaction in mind. Provide timely and accurate progress status on all ongoing activities and issues, with an emphasis on keeping within project timelines.
High competency (hands-on) in almost all areas below or most areas is a must:
• Cisco platform and routing (BGP/OSPF) and switching and wireless
• Juniper platform routing and switching and firewall security, including JUNOS and Netscreen
• F5 Loadbalancers
• IPSEC VPN (Site-to-Site VPN)
• MPLS
• QoS
• Vendor/ISP management/coordination
• Incident management
• Network Documentation management
• Good spoken and written English
Experience and good knowledge in almost all areas below or most areas is a requirement:
• IP telephony
• Arista switching
• WAN Acceleration (Silverpeak preferred)
• Juniper SSLVPN
• Telepresence
• Splunk
• Symantec (Bluecoat) Packetshaper
• Web Proxy services like Zscaler
• Capacity planning
• Solarwinds Orion server reporting
• Kiwi Cattools
• Inventory management
• Configuration Management
Ability to perform scripting in Perl, ShellScript, and other areas is a bonus.
Requirements:
• 8-10+ years’ experience in technologies including WAN, LAN, MAN, WLAN Data Centers in a large multisite (preferably global) enterprise network.
• CCNP level certification or relevant work experience
• Very strong Cisco Routing and Switching skills are required with additional experience in other areas mentioned.
• Strong skills in Layer3 routing capabilities like BGP/OSPF
• Strong soft skills in communication, customer service.
• Ability to work independently and also as a team in handing and taking over issues past time zones.
• Able to travel to all parts of Americas, without restrictions.
• Some travel to outside of Americas can be expected depending on project and resource requirements
• Expected to travel between 50%-60% of the time
