Currently CQ Roll Call is seeking a well-qualified individual to join our team as a Scrum Master. The Scrum Master is responsible for managing Agile software development projects of varying size and complexity from inception to completion. The Scrum Master will also provide some traditional project management for smaller projects to support the Product & Technology Department.
Accountabilities:
In this role you would be expected to:
• Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values
• Manage one or more scrum teams, facilitate scrum process and remove impediments
• Manage other projects as necessary
• Understand business objectives and product requirements by working with product owners
• Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coach the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
• Remove impediments, or guide the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment
• Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving
• Facilitate the completion of work without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
• Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
• Assist with internal and external communication, improve transparency, and radiate information
• Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog
• Provide all support to the team whenever possible, and leading by example
• Provide metrics and regular communication on status to project team, key stakeholders, and partners
• QA features and other project deliverables
Experience, skills and professional attributes:
To succeed in this role you must have:
• BS/BA in related discipline required
• 1+ year experience in the ScrumMaster role for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory
• Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
• Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.)
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• High degree of initiative and sense of urgency
• Ability to organize the needs, concerns, desires of the project into a plan which becomes the roadmap for the team, driving clarity and minimizing complexity
• Ability to balance and prioritize competing interests of project stakeholders
• Ability to clearly and accurately understand and define expectations; those of the team, client, and stakeholders
