Role overview & Purpose
The role will provide operational management, business analysis expertise and analytics guidance for all activities in the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Analytics (EDW&A) group. This role sits in the broader Enterprise Architecture function in the Technology workstream and is accountable for the day to day running of Data Warehouse and Analytics projects including: troubleshooting for all ongoing tasks, interaction with multiple projects and the business users that this team serves. The EDW&A Project Manager will work with our business sponsors to clearly define project objectives, requirements and the business value proposition for the Analytics solution. Additionally, the EDW&A Project Manager will work with our development teams (development center) to create project plans and provision of project management expertise to ensure that projects initiated within the team are on-time and to-budget.
The EDW&A PM will be expected to learn, leverage and refine EDW&A processes and frameworks for project delivery (based on and in line with the Pearson development framework.
The role will report to the Pearson Director of Enterprise Data Warehousing & Analytics and will work closely with the project management peers in other Pearson teams in the Enterprise Architecture and Core Platforms Group.
Key Deliverables
• Work closely with the Director of Data Warehousing and Analytics to ensure the EDW&A team is executing to the overall delivery schedule for the portfolio of EDW&A projects
• Designs business/technical solution architecture through conducting needs analysis, routine problems resolution and outcomes estimation, in accordance with EDW&A standards and processes.
• Analyzes business requirements, current analytics gaps and data required to support business analytics and meet business expectations.
• Plays a key role in conducting risk assessments, quality assurance processes and routine issue resolution for all phases of project implementation.
• Estimates on the effectiveness of business analytics outcomes; communicates client feedback to technology teams in order to improve deliverables and meet business requirements.
• Management of project risks and issues which originated from or must be resolved by the EDW&A team and supporting development/business constituents.
• Responsible for the oversight and monitoring of the inter-dependencies and open issues for EDW&A Team leads and developers working on delivering solutions, liaising with leads on those projects where necessary.
• Running EDW&A team status meetings and troubleshooting non-technical issues that arise and ensuring other technical blockers are assigned to an appropriate owner for resolution.
• Accountable for setting deadlines, evaluation of milestones, assignment of responsibilities, and sign off on key EDW&A program deliverables after consultation on requirements with the Director of EDW&A.
• Responsible as a team leader for the management of key stakeholders for the set of projects under your management.
• Assisting the Director of EDW&A in preparing Budgets, Business cases and tracking actual costs, forecasting and project estimation .
• Support in managing the engagement of senior stakeholders for Analytics within Pearson Technology, helping to prepare key communications material or escalating risks and issues in a timely fashion for resolution.
• Assisting the team within the EDW&A with all commercial documents to ensure that the team’s requirements for external contractors are satisfied and that commercial responsibilities are met
• Assisting the Director of EDW&A in tracking and managing a team of contractors to deliver planned integration services and platform solutions.
Workstream responsibilities
Plans and oversees the day-to-day running of workstream/team and delivery of milestones on time.
• Ensure best practise management of the team, including regular feedback and effective and supportive people management (though no direct line management is required in this role)

• Build relationships and trust with key stakeholder to support programme delivery and collaborative approaches where appropriate
• Communicate in line with communications and programme plans with team and wider stakeholders.

Qualifications
Essential Skills /Experience
• Experience managing complex projects or programs and delivering successfully
• Experience working with a distributed team of developers, including off-shore contractors
• Direct experience in managing complex Budgets
• Previous demonstrable experience of working on a Analytics projects in a business transformation or improvement environment would be beneficial
• Experience with reporting and analytics tools and how to leverage those capabilities for business benefit
• PMP or Agile trained/certified
