Board Operator, Talk Programming - Part-Time

Position Summary:
Responsible for running the audio board for the progressive political talk program, The Agenda with Ari Rabin-Havt. Assignments may also include call screening, audio editing or other tasks needed in the production of a daily talk program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Checks studio equipment for proper functioning prior to going on air, reporting technical problems and equipment malfunctions.
• Runs the audio board for various live and taped programs and edits audio for on-air use.
• Ensures studio sound equipment is functioning properly during programs.
• Ensures that on-air product is up to broadcast standards before it leaves the studios.
• Works with producers and talent on following programming clocks to ensure that all content and advertisements are featured as planned.
• Coordinates the appropriate mix of music and sound for assigned shows, and ensures that levels are mixed properly.
• Screens calls and selectively chooses callers to go on-air under the guidance of the show producer.
• Listens to political events and speeches to find appropriate audio clips for use in political programming.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• At least 1 year experience as a board operator or higher level position at a professional radio station.
• Internship and college radio experience may be accepted as a substitute for professional experience.
Requirements:
• Available to work early morning shift.
• Strong knowledge of current political environment and pop culture.
• Must be able to work with high-profile talent, some of which may be working remotely.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and multi-task.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:
• Previous use of Dalet is a plus.
• Call screening experience is preferred.
• Audio editing experience is a plus.
• Operating studio sound equipment.
• Mixing sound elements into a professional sounding product.
