DESCRIPTION:
This position is part of a Finance team charged with consolidating and analyzing revenue and sales, marketing, advertising, creative services, operations, digital distribution, broadband, and business/product development & management expenses for SNI. This individual is responsible for monitoring expense performance and ensuring the proper and timely recognition of all financial information. In this position, he/she will coordinate the monthly close process and assist in the consolidation of all monthly estimates related to expenses.
Ensure the proper and timely recognition of Sales, Marketing, Advertising, Creative Services, Operations, Digital Distribution, and Business/Product Development & Management (Business Unit) expense information for SNI and assist in revenue and broadband expense recognition. The position manages the monthly close process/preparation illustrating the financial position of the company, the variances from prior estimates, budgets and prior actuals, meaningful interpretation of business trends, and related risks and/or opportunities that need to be addressed. Manages and assists the following activities:
Expense close processes (compile and distribute Business Unit expense reporting)
Aging and Bad Debt close process (compile, analyze and distribute reporting and perform related journal entry)
Review monthly accruals and variance reports
Assist with revenue close process (review monthly revenue/sub reporting)
Assist with broadband expense close process
Reconcile and maintain month close reports in JD Edwards Enterprise One
Consolidate and analyze the company’s revenue-related expense projections. Manages and assists the following activities:
Consolidating and analyzing expense forecasts
Preparing presentations of forecasts for Senior Management
Consolidating and analyzing the Long Range Plan
Ensure the integrity of data transferred from the data warehouse to various reporting systems
Work to get new expense information into existing databases and data flows
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and related deliverables
Continuously improve the reporting process by improving data flow efficiency, implementing new data, and developing new metrics to aid Senior Management in monthly analysis
Create ad hoc reports and analyses as required or requested by Senior Management, business units, Finance, or Corporate Strategy
Partner with IS&T and Applications Development team:
Streamline manual workload by creating and implementing automated processes
Work together with the expense team and IS&T to build effective reporting packages out of new software and systems
Work within databases and spreadsheets to problem solve data consolidation issues
Monitor the data and processes in TM1 database for accuracy, integrity and relevance
QUALIFICATIONS:
*BS in Accounting or Finance
*MBA or CPA preferred
*4-6 years practical corporate finance / accounting / business experience
*Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with financial planning (specifically TM1), and general ledger systems
*Detail-oriented
*Strong organizational and time management skills
*Excellent analytical and innovative problem solving skills
*Demonstrated ability to thoroughly understand financial processes
*Self-motivated, with an ability to work in a self-directed and empowered team environment
*Proven proficiency in developing models that relate varied data sources
*Interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with persons from various levels of the company
*Strong written and oral communication skills
*Solid / Proven analytical and modeling abilities
*Demonstrated project management skills
*Knowledge of revenue and expense recognition policies in accordance with GAAP
