DESCRIPTION:
The Vice President, Investor Relations (IR) will lead the development of an investor communications strategy and operating plan; provide the investment community with an accurate portrayal of the company’s performance and prospects, including all company interaction to "sell-side" equity analysts from national and regional investment banking firms; and "buy-side" investment analysts and portfolio managers from investment funds.
This strategic, executive role will combine the disciplines of finance and communications. The successful candidate will work closely with Corporate Communications in dealing with the financial press. Maintain responsibility for setting a standard of excellence and consistent quality of work and deliver excellent client service.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Act as the focal point to the investment community with the role of communicating and educating, interested parties regarding the investment attributes, especially while preparing for an IPO.
• Strategic leadership including working collaboratively with company’s executive management team to drive, develop and implement investor relations strategies and key messages supporting all investor information, including managing the flow of financial and other information between the corporation, shareholders and the financial community.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with analysts, investors and prospective investors. This includes timely, consistent communications through telephone and personal contacts, group meetings, written materials and making presentations at one-on-one investor and analyst meetings and investment conferences.
• Provide support to senior management, including counseling and advising executives in regard to investor conference calls, external presentations, press releases, financial filings media relations as well as effective IR communications.
• Provide feedback and insight to Senior Management and Board of Directors regarding the financial community’s perceptions of the company and its actions.
• Provide strategic recommendations associated with investment community perceptions to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
• Assist Senior Management in decision making by anticipating potential investment community reaction to potential strategic and business initiatives.
• Lead earnings process, collaborating with Legal, Finance, Corporate Communications and business units. This includes writing of earnings release and earnings call presentations, as well as preparation of Senior Management for investor Q&A.
• Track the models utilized by analysts to value/evaluate the company’s performance (i.e., trends, earnings per share, return on equity, etc.) and communicate this information to Senior Management.
• Prepare key investment messages and communicate financial performance, business conditions, company strategies, developments and growth fundamentals to sell-side analysts and investors.
• Develop in-depth, comprehensive, understanding of the company’s operations, technology, financial performance, and strategies through ongoing interface with company executives.
• Monitor on an ongoing basis the effectiveness of the company’s investor relations program through the quality, accuracy and breadth of "sell-side" coverage, as well as the number and quality of new shareholders.
• Provide analysts and business media with the background they need to put corporate news into context.
• Develop and manage investor outreach and targeting, such as investor road shows.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least ten years’ experience, with either a combination of corporate investor relations and related finance-driven functional experience or as an investment analyst (sell-side or buy-side) covering the Media industry.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, or equivalent is required. Master’s degree desirable.
• Must be able to effectively develop and communicate the CBS Radio investment case.
• Superb reputation with the investor community, based on credibility, consistency, visibility and integrity.
• Superior financial and investment analysis skills, oral and written communications, and presentation abilities.
• Clear and thorough understanding of financial modeling used by financial and investment professionals to value an organization’s overall effectiveness and performance.
• Demonstrated leadership with an ability to set and execute investor relations strategy in a way that is aligned with business goals.
• Able to function as an industry expert, constantly gathering and disseminating industry knowledge in order to develop new investor relations programs and initiatives that will promote the company’s leadership in the industry.
• Successful candidate will be a polished and poised financial executive with the ability to establish strong rapport and credibility quickly in a new organization.
• Flexible, with the ability to know when to shift direction and when to be persistent.
• Must be a high energy, results and execution-oriented leader who is capable of quickly taking control and developing the investor relations program of this organization from inception
