Ubisoft Toronto is a growing and diverse team on a collective mission to create what’s next in AAA games. Since opening our studio in 2010, our team has shipped the critically-acclaimed Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist as lead studio, and Assassin’s Creed Unity, Far Cry 4 and Far Cry Primal in collaboration with Ubisoft Montreal. In 2012, we opened our state-of-the-art Performance Capture Studio, and Playtest. We are currently working on Watch_Dogs 2 and For Honor in collaboration with Ubisoft Montreal, as well as several top-secret, unannounced projects.

Game Director
At Ubisoft Toronto, the Game Director owns the project’s design challenges and translates creative vision into mechanics, systems, and player experience.
Type of Position: Permanent, full-time.
Hero Wanted
Design Guru: You bring five-plus years of experience to the table, have shipped AAA products as either a game design lead or a game director, and you are ready to share that experience with a team of designers; you’re a mentor, a guide, and a leader among your team.
Expert Communicator: You know how to communicate big ideas to executives, team members, and partner studios; you can succinctly define your vision and break it down to the smallest detail, using it to inspire those around you and motivate your team.
Player Advocate:
You are an expert on the video game industry and its evolution, aware of market trends and equipped to lead your team in creating the next big hit; you’re relentless in your pursuit of quality and attempt to capture it in every aspect of what you do.
Responsibilities
The main and routine functions of the Game Director are to:
• Collaborate with the Creative Director to create vision that is innovative, strong, appropriate, fitting with IP, and implementable by the team;
• Follow through and ensure that the project vision is reflected in all stages of design and implementation;
• Inspire and energize the team, utilizing pillars, research, and references to lead them towards creative success;
• Guide and support the game design team, defining the methods and strategies appropriate to the project and championing them;
• Demonstrate pragmatism, weighing the ‘perfect vision’ against the realities of development and seeing your project through to completion;
• Collaborate with other teams within the Ubisoft family, harmonizing design throughout the company and working directly with those other studios as necessary.
Training:
Bachelors in computer science, software engineering, industrial design, game design or equivalent;
Experience:
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in video game design and production;
• Must have shipped 1 or more AAA console game(s);
Other Skills:
• Experience supervising a team between 15-20 people;
• Previous experience on a Ubisoft brand is a plus.
