This position functions as a member of the Corporate IT Operations team and reports to the Director of Application Support. The Systems Support Administrator – Web Applications, is responsible for working with functional business partners in the support of the corporate web applications and sites.
The Web Applications Administrator will support the analysis, application installation, configuration, integration, security management, and troubleshooting of corporate web applications and end user support. This role will work with the development and release management team to migrate approved changes into production and perform systems validation. This position may require occasional travel to our Washington, D.C. headquarters office to meet with stakeholders.
Responsibilities will include:
• Perform a wide range of system administration duties on web, applications, including install, debug, maintain, upgrade, and general tier 3 support, providing assistance to the IT Service Desk for ticket escalations.
• Perform regular maintenance on the Web hosting environments, including software installation, upgrades, and patching.
• Effective provisioning, installation/configuration, and operation of systems and related infrastructure for multiple ecommerce websites.
• Support custom development and business activities as they relate to the Web infrastructure, including performing custom application code deployments, assisting with testing and validation, and remediation.
• Maintains Web system performance by performing system monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning
• Set up or maintain monitoring tools on web servers or web sites.
• Check and analyze operating system or application log files regularly to verify proper system performance.
• Work closely with the IT team to provide end-user support and issue resolution, leading efforts for root cause analysis.
• Support web applications that are maintained onsite and through 3rd party hosted solutions
• Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
• Ensure all tickets are acted on promptly, effectively and closed out promptly
• Ability to recommend design solution based on “Best Practice”
Professional Qualifications
Required Skills:
• Strong working knowledge of IIS
• Experience with Web access control system(s)
• A solid understanding of underlying web technologies including http, certificates, web servers and basic database operations
• Able to support 24x7 operations
Preferred Skills:
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Business or Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years in a comparable systems administrations role
• 2+ years of experience supporting frontend of complex modern websites (html, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, JSON)
• Working knowledge of scripting language (Powershell, Javascript, Python, Ruby, etc)
• SDL tridion content management system experience
• Coveo experience
• Basic system administrator abilities and experience desirable (Windows, Linux or Mac).
• Experience with Microsoft Sharepoint (or similar) desirable
• Experience with Web API (such as REST) desirable
• Experience with XML desirable
• Strong working knowledge and abilities with code level HTML5, CSS, Javascript, JQuery and JSON
• Basic knowledge of Active Directory / DNS
• Experience gathering and effectively analyzing basic web analytics
• Certification in web technologies a plus.
• Able to identify areas of improvement and to support process optimization
• Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
• Good work ethic, team player, positive and self-motivated
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to quickly and effectively troubleshoot problems.
