Overview and Responsibilities
The VP Production Finance will be responsible for both financial operational oversight and financial planning & analysis for all original programming at all Viacom Media Networks (VMN) brands, including MTV, Comedy Central, Spike, VH1, BET, CMT, TV Land, and Nickelodeon.
This position is responsible for setting departmental strategic priorities, overseeing day to day production concerns, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The VP will also ensure communication and collaboration with senior executives throughout the company, primarily production executives.
• Lead a team comprised of 12 full time production finance staff that manages the finances at productions totaling $2B, based in Santa Monica and Burbank.
• Support original in-house studio production and 3rd party production across VMN channels with a wide variety of formats including hour and half-hour scripted union series, unscripted series, events, animation, pilots, and development.
• Ensure accurate review and tracking of show budgets and production spend across channels, including providing cashflow and estimated final costs to programming finance.
• Key member of the Viacom Financial Operations Leadership team, that sets operating best practices across all financial functions
• Work closely with executives in various departments concerning show level issues, including Production, Business & Legal Affairs, Labor Relations, Corporate Accounting, Tax, and Treasury.
• Set departmental strategic priorities and initiatives, including implementation of production accounting systems and monthly/quarterly metric reporting.
• Ensure proper systems, policies, and procedures are in place and followed.
• Pro-active management of both group and channel staff and freelancer workloads.
• Problem-solve as challenges and concerns arise.
• Promoting a culture of high performance and a positive work environment demonstrating respect for colleagues at all levels.
Basic Qualifications
• Extensive Production Finance experience including leading a team of production finance professionals.
• In-depth knowledge of entertainment industry production, systems, and process.
• Experience with both union and non-union shows in a variety of formats.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Sound judgment and ability to remain calm under pressure.
