Description
Autodesk is seeking a Senior Data Center Network Operations Engineer to drive operational excellence and service quality for our worldwide enterprise infrastructure. While you will be focused on Data Center Networking, you will work in a multi-dimensional operations organization spanning network services, telephony services, data center services, storage services, server computing, enterprise cloud and monitoring. The successful candidate will have a track record of achieving operational excellence, delivering and exceeding service level agreements, driving efficiencies, handling issues and escalations effectively and expediently.
The candidate will plan, design and implement network solutions in addition to conducting project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons. The candidate will also operate and maintain systems over multiple platforms and protocols. Responsibilities will also include ensuring the success of network services, projects, and implementations through equipment/circuit procurement, installation, management, patching, maintenance, inventory and asset management. The candidate’s team also manages installed systems as well as diagnosing and repairing problems, and deploying upgrades to existing infrastructure systems.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
• Obtain quotes and solution options utilizing existing solution architectures. Create pricing and selection of components, hardware, software and services required for project implementation. Submit and keep track of the purchase process. Coordinate vendor proposals for purchases of hardware, software, and technical services. Follow defined Procurement processes. (May) facilitate vendor demonstrations.
• Maintain and ensure maximum sustained performance and availability of the Company's data center network systems. Perform ongoing preventive and corrective maintenance. Maximize the capacities through ongoing capacity planning. Adjust utilization to preclude overload. Oversee vendor involvement where applicable.
• Manage system security through the installation and monitoring of appropriate firewalls, database authentication mechanisms, security programs and monitoring systems. Ensure appropriate security controls are in place.
• Respond to reports of network or associated system failure or diminished performance according to published SLAs. Identify and troubleshoot systems and isolate the source of the failure. Diagnose issues and initiate appropriate actions for repair to return the infrastructure systems to full operational status if feasible; or if not feasible, initiate appropriate protocols to circumvent the failure or minimize impact. Promptly escalate issues to appropriate vendors or team members as required.
• Produce regular performance and capacity summaries and status reports for senior management.
• Create, publish, and update related IT status communications and training documentation.
• Ensure appropriate communication between teams to identify and/or work on ongoing issues to a resolution.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships and oversight to ensure the success of outsourced services and implementations. Communicate corporate requirements and stay abreast of new technology and product enhancements.
PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION
• Design, engineer and implement solutions. Support IT Project Managers, IT Architects, or other business stakeholders during project planning by providing subject matter expertise in specialized areas of Data Center Networking.
• Design, procure, configure, and install new hardware/software/connectivity. Initiate required programs and protocols to ensure seamless integration. (May be) responsible for programming new applications and scripts. Follow industry best practices, principles, quality assurance, and innovation in implementation.
• Develop and define processes and systems, ensuring the solutions will support integrated enterprise applications, infrastructure technology, and data.
• (May) act as project manager for various initiatives. Work closely with team members to develop and maintain project plans and monitor adherence to project schedules and budgets.
• Manage the implementation of solutions and/or manages vendors responsible for solution configuration.
• Develop test plans and perform post-installation testing to verify performance. Identify, isolate and rectify performance issues.
• Document designs, standards, requirements, dashboard metrics, configuration items and related dependencies for Data Center Networks and related devices and their relationships with applications and infrastructure. Develop appropriate technical diagramming and interconnectivity with interacting systems and networks. Record changes, configurations, incidents, problems and processes.
• Mentor less experienced IT Infrastructure Engineers. (May) lead teams including project leadership, task assignment, and day-to-day direction of less experienced engineers.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
• BA/BS degree, or equivalent.
• Network Engineering work experience with an emphasis towards production support of high capacity Data Center Networks for mission critical enterprise systems.
• 8-10+ years experience in Network with relevant technologies.
• CCNP or JCNIP level certification or relevant work experience
• Very strong Cisco Routing and Switching skills, JunOS routing and security skills given significant weight.
• Significant experience with Cisco Switching and Routing, F5 or other loadbalancers, JunOS Firewalls, Netscreen Firewalls, SSL and IPSec VPN,
• Strong Data Center architecture understanding including performance tuning.
• Experience with protocols BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VRF, PBR, ACLs, HSRP, 802.1Q, QoS, STP are a must.
• Knowledge of security, virtualization, cloud computing, software defined networking are desirable.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal and communication skills.
• Action oriented, self motivated, independent and ability to lead.
