We have an opening for an experienced, innovative, strategic Senior Director of Marketing in our Columbus, OH office. Does this sound like you?
Reporting to the Vice President of Intervention and Acceleration Portfolio, the Senior Director of Marketing will be responsible for the product & relationship marketing of the Intervention & Acceleration portfolio of programs, which includes flagship products such as ALEKS, Redbird, Direct Instruction, FLEX Literacy, Reading Labs, Number Worlds & Building Blocks. To ensure the needs of the market are being met, this role will have a deep, ongoing understanding of the market including competitors, trends and market needs.
Critical Functions:
• Leadership: Core member of the portfolio leadership team, you will be Accountable for developing revenue targets, accurate forecasting, profitability, pricing and budgets for all existing and new programs that reflect a clear understanding of the market shaping the portfolio strategy – product roadmap, marketing objectives, talent assignment, redirect product teams, provide update to the leadership team - and to champion business cases in the organization. An expert on market trends, competitors and the voice of the customer, you will Review ongoing market analysis and in-depth market research to define market opportunities. This includes a strategic understanding of market trends, competitors and the voice of the customer.
• People Management: Manage and develop a team of 9 marketing professionals to stay focused on key programs and drive market defined change in the education space. Support the team in challenging the organization to consider innovative ideas, question established thinking and make data-driven decisions. Coach, remove obstacles & align resources to enable your team’s success. Focus on staff development for advancement and career paths.
• Process Management/Delivery: Collaboration with Sales, Product Management, Academic Design, Finance, Regional Marketing, and Strategy & Analytics to connect the needs of the market with the needs of the business. Ensure consistent, impactful communications, promotions, packaging and pricing strategies that drive and support field sales and revenue with a focus on tracking, metrics and data-driven decision making. Develop & execute on marketing plans that deliver on product objectives (incl. marketing campaigns, sales training, competitive analysis, etc).
• Financial Management:Responsible for P&L for all programs, bubbling up to Portfolio P&L. Responsible for human resource allocation and expense management of the portfolio, including the marketing budget.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate will have:
• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, advanced degree (Master of Business Administration), or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of eight years of relevant marketing experience in the education space.
• A minimum of three years of managerial experience and demonstration of leading an effective team.
• Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, strategy, and willing to take risks and question established thinking.
• Highly competent in digital markets.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to form solid relationships at all levels.
• Ability to travel.
• Experience managing a budget and/or P&L.
