Blackboard’s Teaching and Learning team is looking for a knowledgeable, innovative Senior Product Manager to shape the vision and strategy for extending the end user experience in Blackboard Learn. This individual will have responsibility for Learn’s Building Block framework, setting product strategy and priority.
The Senior Product Manager will need to develop a deep understanding of their products and services, the market segment, and their associated market problems. S/he maintains relationships across Blackboard’s diverse client base and a variety of both internal and external channels to gain and synthesize market insight, leading to detailed market requirements.
The Senior Product Manager plays an integral role in the success of the group. Specifically, s/he will be responsible to:
• Elicit market problems through market research, productive relationships with clients across Blackboard’s client base, and internal sources of market knowledge and expertise; prioritize those problems against market and business needs; and own requirements definition in support of solving those market problems.
• Work closely with Blackboard’s Industry Managers and other Product Managers to identify key product and/or solution gaps within Blackboard’s cloud platforms and solutions.
• Manage offerings through their full life cycle from concept to end of support, including client transitions between product offerings.
• Collaborate daily with product development to ensure projects are clearly defined and properly phased to facilitate timely delivery of products.
• Oversee business-level verification and market beta testing of new capabilities.
• Work with sales and marketing teams to develop successful go-to-market programs that enable sales to effectively position the products and solutions. Own and drive product go-to-market activities in support of achieving revenue goals for the products and solutions.
• Stay abreast of the competitive environment for learning management systems and other educational technology.
• Represent Blackboard in key industry events and initiatives.
Professional Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management and/or relevant experience in a software development environment.
• Experience with creating and managing Software Development Kits, integration development and distribution frameworks, and API development.
• Experience with 'app exchanges’, ‘app stores’, or similar integration frameworks providing product extensibility through both customer- and vendor-facing interfaces.
• Experience with continuous software delivery methods.
• Strong market focus with the ability to synthesize knowledge from multiple external and internal sources and define priorities that both address market problems and meet business needs.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to guide and work with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work effectively with remote teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Experience with the education and/or educational technology market desirable.
• Experience with the Pragmatic Marketing framework for product management/product marketing activities desirable.
